ZTE Unveils U990 with HSDPA and TD-SCDMA Supported

ZTE Corporation announced the U990 device, the world’s first HSDPA TD-SCDMA mobile handset. The new handset was first unveiled last week and is ZTE’s third TD-SCDMA (China’s 3G Network) mobile handset model. The new model supports dual mode TD-SCDMA/EDGE allowing seamless transitions between the two networks. Its HSDPA speed is capable of reaching 2.8Mbps for downlink transmission and 384kbps for uplink transmission.

The U990 handset runs on Windows Mobile 6.0 operating system and is the first ZTE handset integrated with a Microsoft OS. ZTE’s U990 also has a full touch-screen and is equipped with both GPS/AGPS navigation technologies.
