Vodafone Get Pressured by Egypt to Send Propaganda Text-Message

Egypt government have forced Vodafone to send government scripted pro-Murabak text messages to Vodafone’s customers in Egypt. As a matter of fact, many twitter users has showing the text message when they were sent during the protests this past week in Egypt.

Vodafone released a statement which saying “Vodafone Group protested to the authorities that the current situation regarding these messages is unacceptable,” they also added that “We have made clear that all messages should be transparent and clearly attributable to the originator.”

Vodafone claim that they are unable to do anything since the government have the upper-hand. They also explained that the Egyptian government has been using the country’s emergency laws to write text messages and send them to Vodafone subscribers.

The Egyptian government demand Vodafone to disable all access to the Internet and cell phone service. The wireless company unable to do anything other than followed what the government wants since its under legal permissible.
