Verizon Wireless and Trimble announced the availability of Trimble Outdoors on select GPS-capable cell phones from Verizon Wireless. You get trip planning software, versatile off-road navigation and journaling tools for outdoor activities such as hiking, backpacking, fishing and hunting, in the ultimate wireless phone application for outdoor enthusiasts.
You can also pre-plan and review your trips online using a map-based trip editor or using the Trimble Adventure Planner desktop software. Complete guided trips, routes, maps and waypoints can be sent wirelessly to cell phones, turning the phones into full-featured GPS navigators. Photos and recorded audio can be taken with GPS location tags so that you can share the detail journey on www.trimbleoutdoors.com for complete trip journaling.
Trimble Outdoors is available on more than two dozen GPS-capable phones from Verizon Wireless for $5.99 for a monthly subscription or $1.99 for one-day use purchase. Airtime, data usage and messaging fees may apply while downloading, using and removing Trimble Outdoors.
