Sony Ericsson Xperia Acro Heading To Japan

Sony Ericsson is coming up with another Android smartphone, the Xperia Acro. Sadly, its exclusively for folks in Japan. The device is might be closely to Xperia Arc but have very distinctive difference in its hardware and designs.

The Xperia Acro features the NFC support and a TV tuner. It’s physical form is similar to the Xperia X10 but as for its hardware, its more like the Xperia Arc. The Acro sports 8 megapixel Exmor R camera with LED flash, 4.2 inch display (854 x 480 resolution), and Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The device is heading to DoCoMo soon. Pricing is to be announce.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Might Get Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) Update

Sony Ericsson just announced that the Xperia X10 will be getting an update in Q2 or Q3 of this year. Surprisingly, they are putting Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) as the upcoming update rather than Android 2.1 or 2.2. Previously Sony Ericsson did mention that they are not planning to update the Xperia X10 beyond Android 2.1 (Eclair).

The company will notified the Xperia X10′s owners a little later when they are ready to roll-out the update. But sadly, AT&T’s Xperia X10 might not take part in this. Checkout the changes that will be made when the updates comes out.

The current plan is that the Xperia X10 will get the Android standard Camera user interface and therefore features like e.g. face recognition, smile shutter etc will be lost.
Moxier is replaced by the gingerbread native EAS functionality.
Mediascape is being replaced by the media experience widgets and music player included in our new 2011 products.
DRM keys for protected content on your phone will be lost in the upgrade process.
The Sony Ericsson Backup and Restore client is not supported in the Gingerbread version and will therefore be lost.
Support for bi-directional languages will be reduced compared to the latest version of the 2.1 version of the Xperia X10.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X12 Picture Leaked

Sony Ericsson unannounced handset was revealed last night. Its the Xperia X12 with codename Anzu. On the picture, the device appears to be a resemblance of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 running a modified android 2.1 operating system.

According to the rumor, the device features a 4.3-inch touchscreen display, an HDMI-out port, and HD video recording capability. It also has form factor similar to a slim candy bar and packed with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). We are suspecting the Anzu will be announced in the first quarter of 2011.

Sony Ericsson Start Rolling Out Android 2.1 Updates

Although it is not the latest Android 2.2 Froyo, Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, X10 mini and X10 mini pro users are now getting the Android 2.1 updates finally. The software updates are available in some Europe regions. According to the company, the software updates will be rolled out in phase to all users in different schedule. It will start pushing out the updates in Europe and follow by other regions in November.

What you can expect from this software updates

Xperia X10:
• HD video recording with continuous auto-focus for high quality videos
• Upgrade of the Android platform to Android 2.1
• New back up and restore application, with extended content back up
• 5 homescreens for apps, widgets, shortcuts and folders
• Social phonebook which automatically syncs contact pictures from Facebook and shows when your friends are online

Xperia X10 mini and X10 mini pro:
• Improved Bluetooth functionality with support for sending and receiving pictures, contacts and more
• New backup and restore application with extended content back up
• Automatic synchronization of your contact pictures between Facebook and your phone book
• Improved ways of handling pictures, audio, text and numbers in your messages
• Upgrade of the Android platform to Android platform 2.1

Sony Ericsson Preview Xperia X10 Android 2.1, Ease Your Waiting Pain

If you are one of the Xperia X10 users, Sony Ericsson has posted a few videos on the upcoming Android 2.1 for Xperia X10. The company has last promised to bring the software updates available by end of this month. The software updates will not only bring your X10 to a newer (not newest) Android 2.1, but also adding HD video recording, new pre-loaded backup software, 5 home screens and integrated contact list with social network.

Good news is the release schedule of end October is still on track, although you might only get it in November depends on your region. Check out the video below:

The current plan still holds to start the roll-out towards the end of October and onwards. (As mentioned earlier the roll-out is done gradually though so it will take some time before all different versions get the update.)

Samsung Fascinate, Xperia 10 (White Color), And Dell Streak Heading Best Buy

Best Buy plans to filled their storage with a bunch of Android devices. Except, some of the handsets will come in white color. It seems like they are preparing for Christmas season already. Best buy will be offering Samsung Fascinate, Xperia 10, and Dell Streak.

The Samsung fascinate that Best Buy offers come in white color and so does the Xperia 10. While the Dell Streak in its original color. Best Buy charge $150 with contract for the Samsung fascinate, as for the Xperia 10, it will cost $100 with contract. Also, the Dell Streak go for $300 with contract. All three devices available on October 24th, but Best Buy has already begun taking pre-orders for all three devices. All you need is extra $50 and you’ll be added to the list to get your hands on the devices that you choose in eleven days.

Xperia X10 Update On Android 2.1 Delayed Until Late October

Here’s the catch for Xperia X10 handset owners. Apparently, Sony Ericsson just announced its latest schedule on the Xperia X10 updates to Android 2.1. The Android 2.1 software updates is to be postponed till end October, and even if it is rolled out, you might actually receive it in November depends on your region.

Other than the upgrade for the OS, they will also delay the upcoming improvement on their HD video recording with continuous auto focus. Surely this is a bad news for most of us, after all the waiting and drooling over the Android 2.1 hit the Xperia. While other devices has already received their update long ago.

Sony Ericsson UK Tweets Xperia X10 Family Will Be Receiving Android 2.1 Upgrade By The End Of September

According to the official Twitter account of Sony Ericsson’s UK, Xperia X10 and it’s cousins will be receiving an Android 2.1 upgrade by the end of September. Unfortunately, we can’t be sure if it’s also apply to US’s Xperia X10 users. AT&T has not yet announced anything about this news.

There are no specification on the news whether it’s only for UK’s Xperi X10 users or includes US. It’s still a big mystery but we will keep eyes on this matter. Don’t worry Xperia X10 users, it won’t be long until you will receive the upgrade.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Gets The EISA Award

The first time Sony Ericsson launch the Xperia X10 Mini is back in February. Compared to it’s sister, the Xperia X10, the Xperia X10 Mini is way much smaller and cuter. Previously, the handset has received an award for the “prestigious Red Dot Product Design Award 2010.”

But today, the European Imaging and Sound Association or EISA awarded Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini as a “European Mobile Phone 2010-2011″. The EISA mention that the Xperia X10 Mini from Sony Ericsson is a very small and stylish mobile phone, Nonetheless, it delivers excellent performance with a comprehensive range of features such as GPS, Wi-Fi, 3G and a 5 megapixel camera with flash. The phone runs on the Android platform and offers users the full benefits of a much larger device although its touch screen size is just 2.55-inch (6.48 cm). Its small size and weight and variety of vivid case colors make it perfect for introducing the fairer sex to smartphone technology.

AT&T will launch Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 on August 15th

AT&T have announced the arrival of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 on Ma’ Bell. On August 15th, the Xperia X10 will be available at your nearest AT&T stores.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 features 4-inch touchscreen display (480 x 854), 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, 8.1 megapixel camera with LED-flash, 8GB ROM, a-GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and micro-SD card slot. Unfortunately, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 runs Android 1.6.
