US to Get Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 from November 28th

It is now official that US will be getting the Xperia X1 by end of this month, even earlier than the BestBuy rumor. The Xperia X1 will be available unlocked through Sony Electronics and its authorized retailers beginning on “Black Friday”, November 28. Pre-orders of the Xperia X1 will be available through the Sony Style Web site at www.sonystyle.com beginning November 13. It will be sold unlocked for the MSRP of $799.99.

The Xperia X1’s unique panel user interface is at the heart of the device’s ability to create and adapt consumers’ personal choices. Rumor: BestBuy to Sell Sony Ericsson Xperia x1a Next Month

The Sony Ericsson Xperia x1 is now available in most countries according to its Q4 release plan we heard few months back. BestBuy in US is said to start selling the Xperia x1a from December 7th next month, the x1a will support US 3G band and is unlocked to be used with any GSM service provider.

The XPERIA X1 combines a 3-inch clear wide VGA display and a full QWERTY keyboard within a metal-finish body. The arc design gives a distinct and unique feel. The coming Xperia devices may not use Windows Mobile

Apparently Sony Ericsson Xperia is not set to be exclusive with the Microsoft’s Windows Mobile platform. Will the future Xperia devices use Symbian or Android platform? Unfortunately, the joint venture of Japan’s Sony and Sweden’s Ericsson was reluctant to reveal any details.

Today, a Sony Ericsson executive commented that devices released under the Xperia brand in the future may not run the Windows Mobile platform. The Xperia X1, Sony Ericsson’s first Windows Mobile smartphone, is set to launch in Europe later this month. Magnus Andersson, product manager for the X1, said that the Xperia brand is “not married” to any one technical platform. Sony Ericsson has mentioned that it plans to offer a range of devices under the Xperia brand, with the X1 launching first.

Sony Ericsson announces launch dates for Xperia X1

Sony Ericsson today announces 30 September 2008 as the official launch date for the Xperia X1 – initially available to consumers in the UK, Germany and Sweden. The handset will be available in other markets across Europe, Asia and Latin America throughout Q4 2008.

List of included countries as follow

APAC: Indonesia, Singapore, Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam
Western Europe: Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland, Netherlands, Austria, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, Portugal
Central Europe: Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic
Middle East: UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait
Africa: South Africa
Latin America: Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay and Bolivia

Availability dates for North America, China, Australia and Russia along with other countries not mentioned above will be announced by local markets in the coming months.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 Still On Track for Q4 2008 Availability

Can we finally see the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 smartphone on the market this year? Reported on Reuters, Sony Ericsson confirmed that they are still on track to release the Xperia X1 in Q4 this year. “There is absolutely no delay. The product is on track,” Sony Ericsson spokeswoman Merran Wrigley said. “We have said it will roll out in Q4 and we are on target to do that.”

HTC On Track to Release Android-based Phone in Q4 This Year

Digitimes has confirmed that HTC will start to ship the Android-based phone in Q4 this year. According to the company CFO Hui-ming Cheng, HTC has already got its Touch Diamond smartphone on sale in more than 30 countries since its first launches in June.

Now here is yet another clue on the Xperia X1 availability date from the report. The news is indicating that HTC will be shipping the Xperia X1 for Sony Ericsson in this quarter (Q3 2008).

Although there isn’t a confirm release date for Xperia X1 windows mobile smartphone yet, SEMC Blog today revealed some unannounced accessories made for the Xperia X1. Is this indicating a release date for this year? We last heard it will be released in mid-September this year.
