Want to receive your home phone voice mail on your mobile? AT&T in US has launched a new service for its U-verse Voice subscribers to easily check and manage their home phone messages with visual voicemail. The service is used together with the AT&T Voicemail Viewer software. It has version for the iPhone, Blackberry, iGoogle, and Windows Vista Sidebar.

Much like an email inbox, the Voicemail Viewer app lists your home voicemail messages and allows you to choose the order in which you wish to listen to them. The app also provides a notification when a new voicemail arrives on your home phone, plus the ability to delete voicemails remotely.

The AT&T Voicemail Viewer app is available to U-verse Voice customers at no extra charge. For smartphone availability, visit http://www.att.com/vmviewer.

SpinVox announces the availability of voicemail to text conversion for all Skype voicemail users. The software will convert your Skype’s voice messages to text in English, Spanish, French and German. The messages are then sent by Skype as an SMS text directly to a designated mobile phone for users to read.

Skype users can now benefit from instant ‘visible voicemail’, and never miss those important calls from friends or colleagues when they are away from Skype. Recipients of converted voicemail messages can listen to the full voice message by either signing into Skype or by calling their Skype To Go number. As well as being able to receive voicemail as text via SpinVox, Skype users may choose instead to receive voicemail notification via SMS or for free by email.

Each voicemail to text conversion will cost $0.25 plus the cost of sending an SMS at standard low Skype rates. Additional SMS charges – a maximum of 3 – may apply depending on the length of the voicemail message. All payments are made fuss-free through Skype Credit. Users have a choice to set a limit on the number of voicemail conversions received per day and to receive messages from people only in their contact list to help them manage their Skype credit.

Nuance Communications announced Nuance Voicemail to Text, a voicemail transcription service that delivers high-quality readable messages to mobile devices. Offered through carriers, the service converts voicemails left on any voicemail box into text. Transcribed messages are sent to users as SMS or email messages.

Nuance Voicemail to Text allows users to read voicemail messages rather than simply listen to them. Because the messages are transcribed, users don’t have to worry about writing down or losing information while driving or on-the-go. Messages can be saved, edited, forwarded, indexed in an archive and retrieved anytime, anywhere.

“Converting voicemail to text is a powerful and simple concept. But implementing a highly scalable semi-automated service is far more complex and requires highly accurate speech recognition – technology that takes decades to develop,” said Steve Chambers, president, mobile and consumer services division, Nuance. “The Nuance Voicemail to Text Service integrates speech technology with over 3,000 Nuance transcriptionists, hosted in a Nuance-owned facility, with proven security, scalability, and reliability.”

Nuance solutions can be seen at CTIA Wireless 2008 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in booth 5717. For more information about Nuance Voicemail to Text, please visit www.nuance.com/vm2text.
