Samsung Delivers its Android Smartphone Behold II for T-Mobile

Samsung and T-Mobile USA today announced the upcoming availability of the Samsung Behold II Android smartphone (SGH-t939). The Behold II looks similar to Samsung i7500, comes with a 3.2-inch AMOLED screen, TouchWiz user interface with widgets on the home screen. The Behold II also offers three different homescreens to drag and drop widgets onto the screen and organize the different workspaces with favorite widgets and application shortcuts.

The Behold II will keep customers organized and entertained with access to built-in Google mobile services, including Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail, YouTube and Google Talk as well as thousands of applications and games available for download from Android Market. The Wi-Fi-enabled Behold II also supports personal email and corporate email with Exchange ActiveSync, as well as instant messaging, and text, picture and video messaging. Additional features include a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, flash, five shooting modes and video capabilities, visual voicemail which allows customers to listen to voicemails in order of preference, MP3 player, up to 16GB of external memory, assisted GPS and Bluetooth 2.1.

Samsung Star S5230 Sales Surpass 5 Million Units

Samsung announced that sales of the Samsung Star S5230 surpassed the 5-million mark this month. The Star (model number S5230), launched in May, is the fastest model in Samsung’s history to reach the milestone.

Launched first in Europe, one million of the touch screen devices were sold in the first month and a half alone, after which the company expanded sales efforts to include markets in CIS, Southeast and Southwest Asia, East-Central Africa, China, and Central America.

“We’re very pleased by this success,” said Young-hee Lee, Vice President of Marketing, Mobile Communications Division, Samsung Electronics. “We see the demand for touch screen phones increasing and we will continue to offer consumers a diverse range of products, supported by unique marketing campaigns.”

The Star was launched as an affordable mobile phone, appealing to young consumers with its slim, 11.9 mm body and 3-inch WQVGA touch screen. It also boasts high-tech features such as Samsung’s exclusive high-quality sound technology, DNSe, as well as a SmileShot-enabled camera and Bluetooth v2.1.

Samsung Solstice SGH-a887 Coming to AT&T

AT&T and Samsung Mobile announced the upcoming availability of the Samsung Solstice, a compact candybar phone with full touch screen phone that provides users with an instant connection to social networking, messaging and multimedia features. The Samsung Solstice will be available and offered by AT&T in US beginning Aug. 2.

The lightweight and sleek Samsung Solstice has a full 3.0 touch screen, with a virtual, landscape QWERTY keyboard, and features Samsung’s unique TouchWiz user interface, which includes one-touch access to frequently used applications and social networks through new widgets for Facebook, MySpace and Yahoo! oneSearch. The Solstice features multiple messaging options such as Mobile Email, IM and MMS and comes equipped with a 2.0 megapixel camera with camcorder, perfect for capturing those spontaneous moments. Samsung Confirmed Omnia2 and i8910 HD Pricing and Release Date for Singapore Mobile Users

Powered by Windows Mobile (Omnia II) and Symbian OS (i8910 HD), Samsung today announced its release plan in Singapore for both smartphones. Just announced last month, the Samsung Omnia2 will be available from this weekend (18-July) at a recommended retail price of S$898 (615 USD) without contract. The Windows phone is using the Windows Mobile 6.1 professional edition and can be upgraded to Windows Mobile 6.5 later. As for the Samsung i8910 HD, it is not carrying Omnia branding and will be available from 1 August at a recommended retail price of S$1,098 (750 USD) without contract.

First unveiled at Mobile World Congress as the first Symbian full-touch handset to be released by Samsung Electronics, the Samsung i8910 is offering a 3.7-inch AMOLED screen, 8 megapixel camera and supports HSUPA 5.76Mbps and HSDPA 7.2Mbps. The Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode (AMOLED) touch screen offers unrivalled sharpness of tone, vivid colours and efficiency in power consumption.

Rumor: Samsung Omnia2 Features 3D Cube UI

Right after the leaked of the Samsung GT-i8000 , or called Samsung Omnia2, a video on YouTube has revealed a new 3D cube user interface add-on to the TouchWiz UI. It is not sure that if it will integrate with the TouchWiz UI or just a standalone UI, the 3D cube will give you the access to multimedia, web, picture and program shortcut page easily. Samsung Tocco Lite S5230 Announced in UK

Samsung Mobile UK today announced the launch of the Samsung Tocco Lite, in the UK market, the latest addition to the Tocco family. The Samsung Tocco Lite has enhanced social media features , which uses online widgets to keep your Facebook status up-to-date, log on to your Myspace page or browse YouTube for the latest videos. You can also tag photos of your contacts on the device, as well as uploading your photos to social networking sites from the phone directly.

The slim Tocco Lite incorporates a 3 Megapixel camera, FM radio receiver, 3.0″ WQVGA touch screen, music recognition and Samsung DNSe 2.0 (Digital Natural Sound engine). The Samsung Tocco Lite is set to launch in UK stores mid May.

Samsung i8910 Not Omnia HD Anymore?

Reported on MobileCrunch, they have got official response from Samsung that the Samsung i8910 will not carry the Omnia branding anymore so that it could keep the Omnia branding for Windows Mobile series. Note that Samsung is still running the Omnia HD promotional website here, and it was still using the Samsung Omnia HD branding last week at CTIA Wireless.

Samsung TouchWiz to Get New Widgets and Development Tools

Samsung has announced that it is working with Yahoo, Google and AccuWeather.com to introduce a new set of rich connected mobile applications that will run on Samsung’s lineup of TouchWiz touchscreen phones. UI Evolution is also developing a set of developer tools for Samsung to support the easy development of our rich connected mobile applications. Based upon the Eclipse IDE, developers will have a custom interface allowing them to easily access code samples, FAQ’s, device emulation, and submission of content for sale through the Samsung Rich Connected Application storefront.

Samsung Mobile expects to launch several new touchscreen devices with TouchWiz technology and will also continue to collaborate with developers to significantly expand its catalog of connected mobile applications in 2009.
