The TG01 will be free to customers who take out a £39.15 per month, 24 month price plan. The package includes 1200 any network call minutes, unlimited texts, Orange Maps as well as inclusive anytime internet browsing, and is exclusive to Orange in the UK. The device is already available from Orange in France, and will also be shortly available from Orange in Switzerland, Romania and Poland.

The new TG01 smartphone is running Windows Mobile 6.1, uses a big 4.1-inch WVGA touchscreen (800 x 480 pixels) and comes with a slim 9.9mm thickness body, microSD card slot, HSPA, WiFi, GPS and customize Toshiba’s own user interface. Here is a demonstration video:

To enhance the usability for touch mobile phones, Samsung adapted “Gesture Lock” feature, which enables the users to unlock the phone and execute the menu directly as they draw a letter of the alphabet on the screen. Unlike the Touch HD, Toshiba TG01 has two touch button, Home and Back, available below the touch screen. It also has an unique virtual trackpad to  be used for page navigation. While it has a bigger 4.1-inch touchscreen compare to Touch HD’s 3.8-inch, Toshiba has magically managed to slim down the thickness further to just 9.9mm. Would this affect its battery life performance? There is no words on whether user can change the battery easily. The first, yeah, might be least surprising, would be a new US-spec HSDPA Storm.

The second one, it’s a mix between the Bold/Storm/with a Javelin form factor — but definitely touch (see the mega-blurry photo).  Watch out Palm, a new horror is coming soon. “This could be a really hot device as many current BlackBerry owners love the physical keyboard,” as i4u wrote. Information Week added, being able to use the excellent Bold keyboard for messages while still having a touch-screen for quick-launching apps would be a dream.

The handset, according to BlackBerryNews, is in the alpha stages right now. Its internal name is “Magnum.”  Obviously, no pricing is available at this time.

I certainly am excited about this, but when it comes to the launch dates, I became more sceptic due to RIM’s track records. “RIM takes something like forever to release anything these days, so we probably won’t see any of this till 2034,” as CrunchGear wrote. He eh.

“We will have lot of touchscreen phones coming up, including an N-series device very soon,” said Devinder Kishore, director marketing, Nokia India at an event in New Delhi as quoted by CellPassion.

The “very soon” might be meaning as “it will happen before the end of 2008, or at least in early 2009″. Yay!
