First released for HTC Touch Diamond/Touch Pro/Touch HD users, HTC’s bluetooth security hotfix is now available for HTC Touch 3G, Touch Cruise and S740 users. New Hotfix for HTC Touch HD Available

As a HTC Touch HD user myself, the audio skipping problem with all music players was annoying since beginning. With the recent custom ROMs from xda-developers, my Touch HD is giving an almost perfect and stable audio playing. HTC has finally released the hotfix for this problem, 2 months after its initial release for Touch Diamond. You can read the install and download instruction here. Note that the hotfix can only be installed on ROM version 1.59.XXX.X or lower (there isn’t any ROM version bigger than 1.59 anyway). Let us know in the comment if it works on your Touch HD!

New HTC Touch HD ROM Upgrade Released for Hong Kong Users

Just announced today, HTC has released a new ROM version 1.57.831.1 for Touch HD users in Hong Kong. The upgrade will disable auto-database downloading during Connection Setup, improve Bluetooth connection when using Internet Sharing and prevent displaying the roaming icon under the non-roaming circumstances. The new ROM also comes with a radio version 1.14.25.24.

While the ROM upgrade is released only for Hong Kong users, you can also use the hspl or uspl method to upgrade the ROM in other regions. Check out more details at xda-developers Touch HD rom development section here.

New HTC Touch HD ROM Upgrade for EU Released

Although HTC is slowly release new ROM upgrade for its pda phone, ROM cookers in xda-developers forum are doing much better jobs than the company. HTC just announced a new Touch HD ROM upgrade for specific countries in Europe, supports the following languages: English (Pan Europe and UK), Italian, Dutch, French, Finnish, Portuguese, Danish, Norwegian and Swedish.

Improved Functions and Fixes

Updated the Connection Setup Database.
Improved emergency call connections while using Airplane Mode.
The GPS position updating speed has been enhanced.
A Title bar display flicker in TouchFLO 3D has been corrected.
Fixed multiple browsing issues.

Windows Mobile 6.5 Beta Ported to HTC Touch HD

If you are one of those who loves to have first hand experience, Windows Mobile 6.5 Beta is now ported to HTC Touch HD on xda-developer forum. Official Toshiba TG01 Promotional Video

Here is a official video from Toshiba, showing a summary of what you can expect from the TG01 user interface. Running on top of the Windows Mobile OS, the 3D touch inteface is powered by the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 1GHz CPU and designed for one-handed use with shake control. Check out the video inside.

Toshiba Announces TG01 Smartphone with 4.1-inch Screen, 1GHz Snapdragon CPU

The latest Touch HD and iPhone killer? Toshiba has announced their new TG01 smartphone, running Windows Mobile 6.1 and featuring a big 4.1-inch WVGA touchscreen (800 x 480 pixels), microSD card slot, HSPA, WiFi, GPS and customize Toshiba’s own user interface. The Toshiba TG01 is also one of the first smartphone to use the new Qualcomm’s 1GHz Snapdragon QSD2850 chipset. Acccording to SlashGear, the new user interface is finger friendly and designed for one-handed use. Shake control has been integrated by default to pick up incoming calls and other customization settings.

Unlike the Touch HD, Toshiba TG01 has two touch button, Home and Back, available below the touch screen. It also has an unique virtual trackpad to be used for page navigation. While it has a bigger 4.1-inch touchscreen compare to Touch HD’s 3.8-inch, Toshiba has magically managed to slim down the thickness further to just 9.9mm. Would this affect its battery life performance? There is no words on whether user can change the battery easily. New HTC Touch HD Hot Fix for Camera Viewfinder Enhancement

HTC has released a new hot fix this week, which is to enhance the camera virtual viewfinder on the HTC Touch HD. According to the support page, “When you use the Camera function to take a picture in a dim environment with super fine quality, sometimes the image will display extraneous (noise) pixels in the viewfinder mode. It’s not a mechanical (LCD) fault but only an intermittent display problem in view finder mode. It does not have any impact on the picture quality or other display functions. If you encounter this problem, please download this hot fix to enhance the virtual viewfinder mode.”

The hot fix can be downloaded here and you would need to copy the software update file to your touch HD. You can then run the hot fix directly on your Touch HD.

Another piece of good news is the company seems to have fixed the on-screen slider hot fix issues, where the hot fix will make video call unaccessible after the updates. The hot fix has been replaced with a newer file, without any announcement. Check out the updated on-screen slider hot fix here, you can just reinstall the hot fix again to overwrite the previous update

HTC Touch HD Hot Fix Needs a Fix

Released on Wednesday, the new software update for the HTC Touch HD was supposed to improve the on-screen slider feature for answering calls. Many of the Touch HD users (including me) has got another problem caused by the hot fix. Right after the installation, the phone dialer has a strange layer “Call Hi…” (Call History?) on top of the video call button and video calls could not be made without access to the button.

To fix the problem, you can’t simply uninstall the hot fix as it will not revert back your old system files. Cool dude from xda-developers has created a simple solution, which allow you to undo the hot fix and get back the old system files. Check the instruction here

The method works, although you might still need the buggy fix if you are facing problem with the answering call slider.
