Ericsson and TeliaSonera have unveiled the world’s first commercial Long- Term Evolution (LTE) site in Stockholm, Sweden. LTE enables unprecedented performance in terms of peak data rates, spectrum efficiency and delay. Ericsson has already demonstrated peak rates of 160Mbps.

The site will be part of a commercial network scheduled to go live in 2010, providing the ultra-high data speeds needed for services such as internet TV, mobile video blogging, on-line video games and the mobile office environment.

Ulf Ewaldsson, Vice President and Head of Product Area Radio at Ericsson, says: “The unveiling of this site shows that LTE is no longer the story of the future; it is the story of today. Ericsson, as a leader in LTE development, is proud to work with TeliaSonera to bring a commercial LTE network to life.”

Other than the LTE network, the companies has also signed an agreement for a mobile advertising solution. The Personal Pod Advertising service, part of Ericsson’s Mobile TV solution, allow advertisements to be sent out as podcasts overnight when traffic is low. The solution offers significant benefits for both operators, who earn revenue on ads sent out, and for retail companies, which can track consumer behavior and interact with specific target groups.

Ericsson and TeliaSonera today announced the signing of a commercial LTE network. This network will cover Sweden’s capital Stockholm and the contract is Ericsson’s first for commercial deployment of LTE. The new 4G network will do for broadband what mobile telephony did for voice. With real-time performance, and about 10 times higher data rates compared to today’s mobile broadband networks, consumers can always be connected.

Ericsson and TeliaSonera have started the roll-out in Stockholm, Sweden for commercial launch 2010. Ericsson will perform network implementation services and will manage the network during the initial operation period. The agreement also includes a long-standing partnership where both parties will jointly evolve the way consumers use mobile broadband with LTE.

F-Secure and Nokia are bringing their solutions to TeliaSonera to facilitate effective mobile device management for the SME segment. TeliaSonera will provide device management for SMEs as a hosted service for its enterprise customers. The Managed Device -solution combines the Nokia Intellisync Device Management platform and F-Secure Mobile Security solution, which together enable security for the company’s entire mobile fleet.

F-Secure Mobile Security ensures comprehensive mobile terminal protection with award-winning functionality and ease of use. The antivirus application shields the device against viruses, spyware, worms and trojans.

Nokia Intellisync Device management is a flexible and cost-effective over-the-air device management solution for remotely managing mobile devices in business environments. The solution supports both in-house IT and service provider deployment models. Nokia Intellisync Device Management allows IT administrators to remotely install, update and manage applications on mobile devices.

Lauri Immonen, Product Manager, Customer Network Security, Broadband Services from TeliaSonera from TeliaSonera said, “It is evident that the SME and Corporate segment need easy to use mobile solutions that are truly interoperable. Combined, the Nokia Intellisync Device Management and F-Secure Mobile Security solutions create the right platform that TeliaSonera will be able to bring to IT Managers in the SME & Corporate segment, easing their worries about how to manage and secure mobile devices that are packed with mission-critical and company confidential information.”
