Opera Mobile 10 beta Available for Symbian Devices

Opera Software today unveiled the beta of Opera Mobile 10 for Nokia and other Symbian/S60 handsets. The new version introduces a similar sleek design as the Opera Mini 5 beta. It also has the Speed Dial, tabbed browsing and password manager for auto form filling.

“Today’s powerful smartphones deserve an equally powerful browser, like Opera,” said Jon von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera Software. “This beta continues our work to extend the desktop Web experience to mobile phones, allowing users to surf the Web without limitations, even while on-the-go. No matter the device in use, Opera delivers a faster, easier and hassle-free Web experience.”

Opera Mobile 10 beta is available for Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Samsung smartphones running Symbian/S60, 3rd and 5th editions. The beta is free to download to your computer from http://www.opera.com/mobile/next/ or directly to your mobile phone from http://m.opera.com/mobile/.

Quickoffice 6.2 Available Now for S60 3.x and 5.0 Devices, free update for Quickoffice 6 users

Quickoffice today announced the latest update to its Quickoffice Premier 6 product for Nokia Symbian (S60 3.x and S60 5.0) devices. The company’s latest release delivers a complete S60 office suite by adding PowerPoint 2007 viewing capabilities to the already supported Word, Excel and PowerPoint file formats. In addition, the product now offers both editing and viewing of documents on the popular S60 5.0 touch user interface.

All Nokia Symbian devices that ship with Quickoffice will receive a free update to the latest edition of Quickoffice 6. Selected Nokia Eseries devices will additionally receive editing support with a free Quickoffice Premier 6 update. All updates are available via Quickmanager, Quickoffice’s secure in-application download manager.

Samsung Confirmed Omnia2 and i8910 HD Pricing and Release Date for Singapore Mobile Users

Powered by Windows Mobile (Omnia II) and Symbian OS (i8910 HD), Samsung today announced its release plan in Singapore for both smartphones. Just announced last month, the Samsung Omnia2 will be available from this weekend (18-July) at a recommended retail price of S$898 (615 USD) without contract. The Windows phone is using the Windows Mobile 6.1 professional edition and can be upgraded to Windows Mobile 6.5 later. As for the Samsung i8910 HD, it is not carrying Omnia branding and will be available from 1 August at a recommended retail price of S$1,098 (750 USD) without contract.

First unveiled at Mobile World Congress as the first Symbian full-touch handset to be released by Samsung Electronics, the Samsung i8910 is offering a 3.7-inch AMOLED screen, 8 megapixel camera and supports HSUPA 5.76Mbps and HSDPA 7.2Mbps. Sony Ericsson Idou Gets a New Name: Sony Ericsson Satio

First unveiled in February as Sony Ericsson Idou, the first full touch screen phone from Sony Ericsson is now called Sony Ericsson Satio and will be available in early Q4 (October?). Satio supports GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and UMTS/HSDPA 850/900/2100. There will be 3 colors option in Black, Silver and Bordeaux.

“With Satio you can enjoy any form of entertainment anytime, anywhere. Whether its music or movies you will never be more than a tap away from your favourite tracks or shows,” said Fredrik Mansson, Market Business Manager at Sony Ericsson. “Just tap directly into your favourite videos and music with the unique full touch media menu, standby panels and music player. Samsung i8910 Not Omnia HD Anymore?

Reported on MobileCrunch, they have got official response from Samsung that the Samsung i8910 will not carry the Omnia branding anymore so that it could keep the Omnia branding for Windows Mobile series. Note that Samsung is still running the Omnia HD promotional website here, and it was still using the Samsung Omnia HD branding last week at CTIA Wireless.

MWC2009: LG KT770 Slider Phone with Optimized Internet Browsing

MWC2009: Samsung M7600 Called BeatDJ, Samsung Acme i8910 is Omnia HD with Symbian

Samsung M7600, Samsung Acme i8910, both leaked Samsung models for Mobile World Congress have got an official name. Apparently Samsung Omnia has got a sibling, which is the Samsung Acme i8910 and will be called Omnia HD. Remember Samsung Acme i8910 was powered by Symbian OS instead of Windows Mobile? It is not sure if there will be 2 version of Omnia HD for different OS. In the other hand, the Samsung M7600 is the new Samsung BeatDJ for music lover. More info will be followed up during the Mobile World Congress next week.

The Nokia E63 cost 279 USD, comes with 3G connectivity, WiFi, a 2 megapixel camera, and a standard 3.5 mm audio jack. It will be available in ruby red and aquamarine blue options.
