This is the first time the telco has given a clear indication of sales after securing an exclusive deal with Apple to distribute the phone here ahead of rivals StarHub and MobileOne (M1). The phone is one of SingTel’s fastest selling handsets ever (and) interest in the iPhone 3G remains high.

SingTel is the country’s largest telecommunications company and the largest mobile network operator in the Asia Pacific outside of the People’s Republic of China. Singapore joins 17 other countries in Asia, Europe and Latin America that get their first taste of the iPhone.

With the little bundled data transfer on the new service plans, the good news is subscribers can still buy the iPhone 3G with current available calling plan and add an unlimited 3G data plan on it. This would be cheaper than subscribing the new iFlexi plans if you are going to use more than 3GB a month. Tthe iPhone 3G in Singapore will be unlocked by default as the local policy do not allow locking of handsets.

It is not sure if the 2 x battery is only included for the first batch of the HTC Touch Diamond. All 3 telco are selling the new HTC Touch Diamond at $498 SGD (360 USD) with 2-year contract (18 USD mobile plan). Check out the content in the box from Singtel below (read the fine print notice).

Orange has announced to bring the iPhone to Orange customers in Austria, Belgium, the Dominican Republic, Egypt, Jordan, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Switzerland and Orange’s African markets. Singtel and its associates have announced to bring iPhone to Singapore, India, the Philippines and Australia. Early this month Vodafone also revealed its plan to offer iPhone in Australia, the Czech Republic, Egypt, Greece, Italy, India, Portugal, New Zealand, South Africa and Turkey.

It is not sure that how the telco will tie a contract with the iPhone but at least you might see an iPhone without firmware lock because telco is not allowed to sell firmware locked phone in Singapore.

This interactive service allows the subscribers to create a personalised portfolio to track the performance of their shares and stock exchange indices from the comprehensive suite of investment tools and services available. Subscribers will also have access to a currency conversion calculator using real-time exchange rates.

These unique features are in addition to Bloomberg’s up-to-the-minute, market moving financial and world news, as well as stock quotes from major stock exchanges (refer to Annex A for service features and subscription details). Bloomberg’s mobile service will be available from 22 May 2008.

Following the Singapore launch, Bloomberg plans to extend this service to other countries and territories in Southeast Asia and Greater China by the end of 2008, with further expansion plans for 2009.
