Samsung Demoed Foldable AMOLED Display Screen

Possibly the next innovative way of getting a large display screen with a smaller phone body size, Samsung SDI has presented their foldable AMOLED display prototype during the FPDI 2008. There are 2 pieces of thin AMOLED displays placed side by side, creating a almost perfect large WQVGA display screen. You can only see a very thin line at the joint of 2 AMOLED displays. Samsung Show Off 0.05mm ‘Flapping’ OLED Display

Unveiled in the FPD International 2008 event, Samsung has presented its new OLED display panel, named “flapping display”, with an extreme thin 0.05 thickness. The display panel can be even thinner if it is not limited by the thickness of the flexible substrates and circuit components around the panel, the company staff said. The 4-inch OLED display has a resolution of 480 x 272 pixels.
