Samsung Announces the Premium I8910 HD Gold Edition

Samsung announced the availability of the I8910 HD (Omnia HD, GT-I8910) Gold Edition. The Samsung I8910 HD Gold Edition comes in two fashionable colors — Champagne Gold and Luxury Brown — both of which are inlayed with 24 karat gold, giving the device an extra touch of style. The Gold Edition package also includes a leather case, together with special accessories including a mini-cradle and TV-out cable . The Samsung I8910 HD Gold Edition will be available beginning this month in selected markets including Singapore, Germany and the Middle East.

The I8910 HD Gold Edition’s video recording feature enables HD quality (720p) video capture. The 16:9 screen with 16 million colors and dual stereo speakers allow users to experience SD (Standard Definition) and HD videos in cinema-scale quality.

Featuring an industry-leading 8 megapixel camera, the Samsung I8910 HD Gold Edition empowers users to take digital camera-quality photographs. The 16 Gigabytes (GB) of internal memory with the addition of a 32GB microSD card provides storage of up to 48GB, or the equivalent of 35 DVD-quality movies or 18,000 photographs of 8 megapixels.

The 3.7” Auto-Rotating AMOLED Display offers PC-like Web surfing on the phone coupled with super-fast Internet access on HSUPA 5.76Mbps and HSDPA 7.2Mbps. A GPS with an integrated compass allows the I8910 HD Gold Edition to accommodate both pedestrians and drivers. The navigation touch control and voice guidance via dual stereo speakers makes travel easy and safe for drivers.

Samsung Confirmed Omnia2 and i8910 HD Pricing and Release Date for Singapore Mobile Users

Powered by Windows Mobile (Omnia II) and Symbian OS (i8910 HD), Samsung today announced its release plan in Singapore for both smartphones. Just announced last month, the Samsung Omnia2 will be available from this weekend (18-July) at a recommended retail price of S$898 (615 USD) without contract. The Windows phone is using the Windows Mobile 6.1 professional edition and can be upgraded to Windows Mobile 6.5 later. As for the Samsung i8910 HD, it is not carrying Omnia branding and will be available from 1 August at a recommended retail price of S$1,098 (750 USD) without contract.

First unveiled at Mobile World Congress as the first Symbian full-touch handset to be released by Samsung Electronics, the Samsung i8910 is offering a 3.7-inch AMOLED screen, 8 megapixel camera and supports HSUPA 5.76Mbps and HSDPA 7.2Mbps. The Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode (AMOLED) touch screen offers unrivalled sharpness of tone, vivid colours and efficiency in power consumption.

Samsung i8910 Not Omnia HD Anymore?

Reported on MobileCrunch, they have got official response from Samsung that the Samsung i8910 will not carry the Omnia branding anymore so that it could keep the Omnia branding for Windows Mobile series. Note that Samsung is still running the Omnia HD promotional website here, and it was still using the Samsung Omnia HD branding last week at CTIA Wireless.

MWC2009: Samsung M7600 Called BeatDJ, Samsung Acme i8910 is Omnia HD with Symbian

Samsung M7600, Samsung Acme i8910, both leaked Samsung models for Mobile World Congress have got an official name. Apparently Samsung Omnia has got a sibling, which is the Samsung Acme i8910 and will be called Omnia HD. Remember Samsung Acme i8910 was powered by Symbian OS instead of Windows Mobile? It is not sure if there will be 2 version of Omnia HD for different OS. In the other hand, the Samsung M7600 is the new Samsung BeatDJ for music lover. More info will be followed up during the Mobile World Congress next week.

New Samsung Acme i8910 Running Symbian S60 Touch UI

The unknown OS used by the leaked Samsung Acme i8910 has got an answer now, according to info from dailymobile, the Samsung Acme will be running Symbian S60 5th edition and comes with a AMOLED display screen. It did not confirm if it has a 8GB or 16GB internal memory but 8 megapixel camera, GPS, HDMI support, WiFi and 3.5 mm headphone jack is confirmed.

Also according to Eldar from mobile-review [via unwiredview], Samsung Acme is able to record 720p HD quality video, the phone battery has managed to give him a 40 minutes continuous video recording. Let’s hope the phone does have a removable battery!
