Qualcomm announced that it is sampling a new smartphone chipset family, featuring strong emphasis on multimedia performance, supporting high-definition video recording and playback, exceptional graphics with dedicated 2D and 3D cores, and an overall chip design optimized for Web surfing. The first devices based on the flagship MSM7x30 family of chipsets are expected to launch commercially before the end of 2010.

Qualcomm today announced that it is sampling the industry's first chipsets for dual-carrier HSPA+ and multi-mode 3G/LTE. Orange has confirmed that it will be exclusively offer the Toshiba TG01 in the UK by this weekend. Powered by Qualcomm’s 1GHz Snapdragon chipset, TG01 uses a 4.1-inch WVGA touch screen and has a slim 9.9mm body. It will first come with Windows Mobile 6.1. An upgrade to the new Windows Mobile 6.5 will be available later this year.

Qualcomm today announced that the Company has added support for Near Field Communication (NFC) technology to certain chipsets in its product portfolio. NFC is a short-range wireless connectivity technology operating at 13.56 MHz and transferring data at up to 424 Kbps.

Here is a official video from Toshiba, showing a summary of what you can expect from the TG01 user interface. If Toshiba has a TG01 smartphone that can do 3D wonder, you would probably not surprise to see something from HTC. According to digitimes, HTC's Snapdragon smartphone will be launched by second quarter this year.
