AT&T and LG Announce the LG eXpo GW620 with 1Ghz Processor

Featuring the first 1 GHz processor in the United States, AT&T and LG announced the LG eXpo will be available online beginning December 7. The LG eXpo is the first device in North America to support an optional integrated pico projector. The LG Mobile Projector snaps onto the back of the device and allows users to share presentations, slideshows and even online videos straight from their mobile phone.

The LG eXpo is loaded with Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional, it also eliminates the need for pin codes and passwords with the “Smart Sensor” fingerprint recognition from AuthenTec. Boasting a 3.2-inch external touchscreen with 16M color, LG eXpo features a sophisticated slider design with a full size QWERTY keypad. In addition to a 5.0 megapixel camera with built-in auto flash, LG eXpo can support up to a 16GB removable microSD memory card for premium music and photo storage.

Beginning December 7, LG eXpo will be available to enterprise customers and for purchase online at www.att.com/lgexpo for $199.99 after mail-in rebate. The LG Mobile Projector will be available in the coming weeks for $179.99.

MWC2009: TI Introduces New DLP Pico Projector Technology Chip

Texas Instruments (TI) DLP announced the newest chipset in the DLP Pico family with availability slated for late 2009. Small enough to embed into the most compact mobile phones and gadgets, DLP Products has effectively scaled the display technology down to the size of a raisin.

“Building upon the success of the first DLP Pico chipset, which has HVGA resolution and enables leading brands to deliver cutting-edge products across the globe, this new chipset increases performance benchmarks,” said Frank J. Moizio, Manager, DLP Emerging Markets business. “The new chipset provides WVGA resolution, higher brightness and power efficiency; all while enabling thinner, smaller optical engine modules to meet the demands of contemporary handheld devices.”

The new DLP Pico solution delivers the following features:

WVGA (854×480) – Native DVD resolution
Enables >20% thinner optical module height
Enables >20% smaller optical module volume
Incorporates technology advances that increase both brightness and power efficiency

MWC2009: New Projector Phone Samsung I7410 Available Soon

In conjunction with Texas Instruments (TI), Samsung has announced Samsung W7900 projector phone for Korea. It will be also released in Europe, with a model called Samsung I7410. The Samsung I7410 will comes with an embedded projection in a contemporary form factor and powered by a DLP Pico Chipset by Texas Instruments. It will allow users to transform their traditional two inch screen to a 50-inch viewing screen allowing others to share in the video.

“Working together, Samsung and Texas Instruments, DLP(R) products have made headway in a currently untapped market,” said Wonsik Lee, Vice President of R&D Planning Team at Samsung Electronics. “This is an exciting time for the mobile phone industry as we transform the limitations of the mobile phone viewing experience to compelling image sizes that really adds significant value to both business and consumer users.”

With the DLP technology enabled Samsung projector phones you can now turn what has traditionally been an individual experience into a shared viewing opportunity for mobile content. By projecting content you can easily broaden the viewable image in a matter of seconds for ample screening.

Explay to Unveil the Colibr Mobile-Projection Module during Mobile World Congress 2009

ShengTai CKing Projector Phone Rebrand As Logic Bolt in US

First revealed in a tradeshow last year, we are not quite sure the actual inventor of the portable projector phone. Logic Wireless now claims to have created the mobile phone with built in projector and calling it Logic Bolt. Logic Bolt supports GSM Quadband network, its built in projector is able to produce a 30-inch screen for simple presentation or video sharing. With a single charge you can use the projector up to 2 hours continuously.

World’s smallest pocket projector unveiled in Sydney

Mint Wireless today unveiled their new V10 pocket projector manufactured by Aiptek. Claimed to be the world’s smallest in the consumer market, the V10 pocket projector will be available during September 2008. Measuring only 125 x 55 x 23mm it projects a range of multimedia up to 50″ in size from 1.8m away. It will be available with a price tag of $649 at launch.

The device can display photos and videos input via a 3-in-1 AV jack or stored on its 1GB internal memory or from an SD, MMC or MS Pro card. Formats supported include AVI, JPEG, ASF and MPEG-4. The projection technology in the V10 is repoted to be from 3M. No wireless module is built into it though, you will have to look at this ShengTai CKing Mobile Phone with Built in Projector in China.

Texas Instruments Puts Its DLP Pico-Projector in BlackBerry

Last year, Texas Instruments has already presented a prototype of its DLP Pico Projector. Now they are integrating it into a BlackBerry.

The BlackBerry with Pico Projector is definitely slimmer than last year’s prototype, though the BlackBerry is wider. The BlackBerry in the video is actually just a dummy BlackBerry casing, hopefully TI will be able to complete a working phone with the Pico Projector integrated.

Check out this ShengTai CKing mobile phone in China, they have a working phone with a mini projector with a small projection screen size.

ShengTai CKing Mobile Phone with Built in Projector

Remember the TI prototype phone with a built in pico projector? The first company that made this dream comes true might not be them after all, check out this CKing from ShengTai in China. The made-in-china phone continue to innovate in certain area.

During a communication tradeshow in TianJin (IMIE 2008), ShengTai is demonstrating its first phone model with built in projector. Similar to the TI prototype, a micro projector is built on to the top of the mobile phone. Slightly bigger than a normal size phone body, the micro projector make use of LCoS (Liquid crystal on silicon) technology and is able to give you a 30-inch screen projection.

At the back of the CKing you get a built in speaker, together with a manual focus switch to adjust the focus ring. Has made-in-china phone surprised you? Then again, if only they put in more efforts, there is always something that they copied from elsewhere.
