MWC2009: 26 Minutes Long Palm Pre Walkthrough Video!

Thanks to the team at Pre Community, a 26 minutes long walkthrough video on the Palm Pre is now available on Youtube. The Palm execs is explaining all the features and applications you can expect from the Palm Pre. Remember Pre Community also spotted a Palm Pre using GSM sim card during the Mobile World Congress.

The video is one of the most complete demonstrations of the Pre that we’ve seen to date, showing app to app transitions without the covert tinkering Palm execs had to do with their pre-production devices at CES last month. In it, you can see the calendar, contacts, Synergy linking of information from Microsoft Exchange, GMail and various social networks, browser and more.

MWC2009: Palm Pre Calendar and Web Browser Demoed

Done by Pre Community, Palm has demonstrated Pre’s mobile web browser, showing its full web capability and multiple browser process. While the staff is able to open multiple websites at the same time, it does cause the Palm Pre to slow down, probably due to the amount of the memory and cpu usage in the background. Start up the browser and as well as the address bar – which you can begin typing in without needing to tap into it – there’s also a page full of bookmarks. Each is represented by a thumbnail of the page rather than just the URL. Load times – over WiFi, rather than Vodafone Spain’s 3G network – were good, with the full range of pinch zooming and double-tap zooming (which automatically zooms into a column). The rep doing the demo couldn’t tell us whether – or how – you’ll be able to save images from webpages, but he did show the “Share” feature which adds a hyperlink and thumbnail image to a new email, ready to be sent to a friend or colleague.

New Palm Pre Video Demo-ing Calendar Apps

Palm has just posted a new video of their new Palm Pre, demonstrated few user actions with its calendar application. In the second part of the short video, Palm is also showing how you can do a google search and share the web site to other user via email. Check out the video inside.

Rumor: Palm Cooking GSM Palm Pre for Mobile World Congress?

While the recent Palm announcement has made many mobile users putting Palm Pre on one of their wish list, there is not much details on the Palm Pre for GSM network. One website, palmmwc2009.com, might indicate a possible second major announcement planned for next month at Mobile World Congress. The website is password protected and is currently removed from public access.

According to a check on Pre Community, the domain was registered by Canadian PR agency Mischief Media on 2008-12-30, who has Palm Canada on their client list. Read the detail here.

CompanionLink to Offer Two-way Sync between Palm Pre and CRM Solutions

CompanionLink Software has announced that it will extend two-way sync between contact management and CRM software and the new Palm Pre device. CompanionLink users will be able to sync contacts, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, calendar events, tasks, notes, and alarms and reminders between the Palm Pre and popular contact management solutions like ACT! by Sage, Google, Palm Desktop, Lotus Notes, GoldMine, and Microsoft Outlook. CompanionLink lets users choose between wired (USB) sync and wireless (over-the-air) sync with their phone.

“CompanionLink will become the missing sync software between the Palm Pre and CRM solutions like ACT! by Sage,” says Rushang Shah, Director of Marketing at CompanionLink Software. “Our software will automate that entire sync process for people who need the data on their Palm Pre.”
