Bipper Communication AS and Motorola is rolling out its first commercial deployment in EMEA for its iSIM application platform. The Motorola’s iSIM is a solution for delivering applications, services and enhanced capabilities (such as near field communication) through a flexible wafer that is attached to the subscriber’s original SIM.

The parental control service from Bipper will help parents to manage their children’s approved number’s list from the Bipper website. Parents can then monitor the child’s use of the mobile phone through an easy-to-use portal web site, including, who they communicate with, how much they use the phone and when they use it.

Bipper’s iSIM application will initially launch in Bulgaria and Norway in 2010 before rolling out across the rest of EMEA. The service is also scheduled to launch in North America during the year.

Bell Mobility and Solo Mobile announced a content access control solution that lets parents limit mobile-phone access to Internet sites they feel might be inappropriate for their children, a first in Canada.

“We understand the Internet is an incredible source for entertainment, education and social networking, but also a challenge considering the large number of Internet sites featuring content that may be inappropriate for children to view,” said Adel Bazerghi, Senior Vice President of Products for Bell Mobility. “As use of the Internet on mobile phones grows, fuelled by the popularity of smartphones and the fast access speeds delivered by 3G networks, our clients have asked for tools to help them manage access. Bell Parental Control offers them content filtering capability on mobile phones for the first time in Canada.”

The solution employs Unipier Ltd.’s Intelligent Policy Manager (IPM) system, which sets the guidelines for identifying and filtering content. The system applies these guidelines in real-time over any mobile content.

To activate Parental Control, payment-responsible account holders visit My Bell or Solo Mobile self serve and follow the instructions on the password-protected sites. Parental Control is available nationally on most phones for $5 a month on both prepaid and postpaid accounts.
