Treo 800w Got Software Updates for USB and Battery Charging

Palm has just released a new software update for Treo 800w users. The software is essential especially it will solve a battery charging issues.

The Treo 800w USB and battery charging software update is designed to address the following:

USB: If your device fails to detect any of the in-box USB accessories such as the power adapter, headset or sync cable, this update will resolve most of the detection issues.
Battery charging: When plugged into the charger, the device may not charge a completely discharged battery. This scenario is most likely to happen if you leave a dead battery for a few days before trying to charge it in the device.

New Palm Treo 800 Update Adds Voice Dialing Over Bluetooth

Just as what the company revealed last week, a software update patch is now available for Palm Treo 800w smartphone users. The software update will enable voice dialing over Bluetooth wireless on the Palm Treo 800w from Sprint.

According to the support page, “This software download will enhance the convenience of hands-free calling, as it will enable the use of your Bluetooth headset or car kit to initiate voice calls on the Treo 800w via Voice Command voice dialing software.”

Note that this update will be “erased” if you performed a hard reset in the future. Download the software update here

Palm to Add Voice Dialing Over Bluetooth for Treo 800w Soon

According to the support page on Palm website, Treo 800w users will be able to add the Voice Dialing Over Bluetooth through a software updates from Palm. The statement did not mention the availability date and it should be available in “coming days”

Palm Treo 800w Software Compatibility List

If you are going to upgrade or buy the new Palm Treo 800w, members in Treocentral forum is working on a software compatibility list for the new smartphone. Comes with 320 x 320 resolution display screen, software like Skype, Opera mobile, Tom Tom 6 and a few more are not compatible with it. So be sure you take a look before you made your decision.

Palm and Sprint Introduce the Treo 800w Smartphone Officially

Palm and Sprint today introduced the Palm Treo 800w, the first built in WiFi smartphone from Palm with Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional. The Palm Treo 800w operates on the Sprint Mobile Broadband Network and support EV-DO Rev. A data speeds, WiFi for data and GPS capabilities. Palm designed the Treo 800w for easy-to-use mobility with a full QWERTY keyboard, five-way navigation and one-touch buttons to the most-used applications.

With integrated GPS and Palm software enhancements, the Treo 800w smartphone offers maps, point-to-point directions and point-of-interest (POI) searches for locations such as restaurants or stores. POI search is available directly from the Today Screen and is integrated with contacts. Treo 800w also supports Sprint Navigation for turn-by-turn directions as well as other popular third-party location-based services applications.

Palm Treo 800w Available in Few Sprint Stores

Available on the same day as iPhone 3G, some users in wmexperts forum has actually able to buy a Treo 800w from the Sprint retail store now.

According to a member skfny, you will get about 72MB RAM free after a system fresh boot and a total of 150 – 160MB ROM. GPS, body size and keyboard design is great, except the 320 x 320 resolution display screen might not be compatible with all the applications. Sprint Accepts Palm Treo 800w Order Now

According to wmexperts, you can call Sprint Telesales at 877-639-8351 to order the Palm Treo 800w now. The Treo 800w has a product ID PTR800HK and it is available for $599 before a $100 mail-in-rebate and $75 off (1 year contract) or $150 off (2 year contract). Other than the availability, a copy of the Treo 800w pocket sales guide has been scanned with detail specification table too.

Rumor: Sprint New Products RoadMap for Q3 2008

Here is yet another leak on the Sprint roadmap in Q3 2008 from a forum member in SprintUsers forum. Similar to what we have heard, the new Palm Treo 800w will be announced/released on July 13th. Motorola RAZR VE20 and the new Sanyo Katana Eclipse (SCP-6750) are planned for August 17th release. The Sanyo Katana Eclipse would probably the next slim clam shell phone from Sanyo Katana family.

Windows Mobile smartphone users can look forward to a new HTC device, called HTC MP6950 in September. While there isn’t any information on the HTC MP6950, it is most likely to be the HTC Touch Diamond in CDMA flavour.

Treo 800w Training Material Leaked

Here is yet another leak on the upcoming Treo 800w for Sprint network, although there isn’t much new information from the screenshots. The CDMA Treo 800w has a launch date of July 13th, according to a leaked table in howard forums. While this release is targetting at CDMA network, I am sure you will see a similar release for GSM network soon. The Treo 800w will be available for Sprint first, follow by Verizon Wireless.
