Nokia 8800 Gold Arte to be Released in Southeast Asia Pacific Q2 2009

Nokia has recently introduced the Nokia 8800 Gold Arte, the latest addition to the Nokia 8800 Arte range. Featuring stainless steel parts with 18 carat gold plating and premium quality leather, the Nokia 8800 Gold Arte has a slide mechanism with precision ball-bearings, as well as soundtracks and living wallpapers created exclusively for the range.

The Nokia 8800 Gold Arte also offers the tap-for-time feature – consumers can tap the leather surface below the display twice and a clock appears on the screen. The turn-to-mute silencing mechanism – a hallmark of the range- allows individuals to silence incoming calls in a discrete manner by turning the phone over, screen-side down.

In addition to the 3G capabilities and 3.2 megapixel auto focus camera, the Nokia 8800 Gold Arte has a stunning OLED display and built-in memory of 4GB. Nokia’s anti-fingerprint coating reduces smudges on metal and glass and the unique all- in-one micro USB creates a seamless design experience.

The Nokia 8800 Gold Arte will be available in selected markets in Southeast Asia Pacific from Q2 2009 onwards.

Samsung Show Off 0.05mm ‘Flapping’ OLED Display

Unveiled in the FPD International 2008 event, Samsung has presented its new OLED display panel, named “flapping display”, with an extreme thin 0.05 thickness. The display panel can be even thinner if it is not limited by the thickness of the flexible substrates and circuit components around the panel, the company staff said. The 4-inch OLED display has a resolution of 480 x 272 pixels.

New Kodak Material Boosts OLED Performance and Energy Efficiency

Eastman Kodak Company today announced the introduction of a highly efficient OLED material that will enable low-power, full-color displays with outstanding lifetimes. The new material, trademarked KODAK OLED Material EK-GD403, utilizes green dopant technology to deliver a new level of OLED display performance and reliability.

“The benefits of OLED technology are well-known and Kodak is working to extend those benefits and accelerate OLED adoption for numerous applications,” said Dr. James Buntaine, Chief Technical Officer and Vice President, Kodak OLED Systems. “In addition to display screens, Kodak’s new green dopant can be used to boost the efficiency of solid-state lighting applications and reinforces Kodak’s environmental stewardship by enabling future devices with lower power consumption and longer lives.”
