Nokia and M1 today announced a collaboration to offer a new, easy-to-use email service to M1 customers. With the Nokia Messaging service, M1 customers will be able to enjoy push email service on the go at a very affordable price.

By subscribing to any of the bundled data plans specially customized for this service, M1 customers will be the first in Singapore to be able to use Nokia Messaging on more than 20 Nokia handset models at a low cost.

M1 customers can, for example, sign up for the SunSurf Lite data plan at just 5.35 SGD per month, which is bundled with 20MB of free data, to enjoy Nokia Messaging with any of the designated Nokia handsets.

This collaboration between Nokia and M1 will allow M1 customers to have their email pushed directly to their Nokia handsets from popular email service providers such as Yahoo, Hotmail and Gmail. The service is also compatible with local Internet service providers, such as Pacific Internet, Cyberway and Qala.

“With this service, Nokia and M1 aim to respond to the growing consumer demand to be able to access their email accounts directly on the Nokia device whenever they want, wherever they want. Nokia Messaging eliminates all the factors that have been barriers to mobile email adoption: it is easy to access and set up, it is easy to use and one can have up to 10 email accounts per device per subscriber. The idea is to make mobile email and messaging available to everyone,” said Vlasta Berka, General Manager, Nokia Singapore, Malaysia & Brunei.

“Nokia Messaging is easy to use, and brings the most frequently used functions right upfront so that users have a comfortable mobile email experience on their devices. With a fixed monthly fee, consumers no longer need to be tethered to their PCs, but can get access to their mailboxes anytime, anywhere – even when they are at their summer cottages,” said Mr Panu Lehti, Product Manager, Elisa.

Nokia Messaging mobilizes email accounts from Elisa and Saunalahti, as well as email solutions from thousands of internet service providers (ISPs) and email service providers (ESPs) around the world on Nokia devices.

Orange and Nokia are extending their partnership with a new, simple-to-use email service for consumers. This extension to their multi-country agreement will deliver and launch a co-branded solution, Nokia Messaging by Orange, on a range of Orange devices, aiming to bring mobile email to everyone with a phone, as well as working professionals.

Launching first in the UK from this summer, followed by France and Spain, Orange customers will be able to take advantage of built-in push email on the forthcoming Nokia E75 and a range of Nokia devices.

Kai Öistämö, Executive Vice President, Nokia says, “Orange is the first operator group to announce a European-wide offering of Nokia Messaging to their customers and we are very pleased about this extension to our service collaboration. The agreement on Nokia Messaging will boost the adoption of mobile email service and makes it easy for consumers to activate the service on-device and at Point-of-Sale. We believe that mobile messaging is for everyone, not just for a certain segment of the consumer market. ”

Orange customers will be able to aggregate and manage multiple email accounts while on the move via the Orange homescreen. This service is easy to set up and enables people to directly access up to 10 personal email accounts, letting them read, send, forward and reply to emails, view subfolders, download and read attachments and attach files to emails directly on the Nokia device.
