Nokia Betalabs Release Photo Browser with Touch UI

Available today, Nokia Betalabs has announced its new S60 software called Nokia Photo Browser, offering an easy to use and browse through your photos. The free application is only available for Nokia S60 5th edition touch screen phone at the moment but it will eventually support both Nokia S60 5th and 3rd edition.

Other than able to zoom in with a magnifier, the Nokia Photo Browser has a feature called Face Browsing. Face browsing will detect people faces in a photo and you can choose to flip through the faces. There are also few Touch UI implemented for those Nokia S60 5th edition touch screen phone.

Strokes, drags, and taps should work as you’d expect
In the single image view:
- Long press to start the magnifier
- Double-tap will start the regular zoom
- Double-tap on a face will start the face browsing
- In the face browsing mode, a stroke will travel between faces

Nokia Betalabs Offers Free Nokia Magnifier Software

Did you always carry a Magnifier for reading books with small text? Nokia Betalabs has created its “Nokia Magnifier” software for phones running S60 OS. The software is making use of your phone’s camera, has built in software stabilizer to produce a sharper and clearer image when you use your hand to hold the phone.

It can be used to improve readability in every-day life situations such as reading “fine print”. Anyone who has difficulty seeing “fine print” or small objects can benefit from using this application readily available on their S60 phone. Nokia Magnifier has a built in stabilizer to reduce the effects of a shaky hand and negative filter enabling users to switch from light to dark backgrounds improving readability. By using the existing camera technology, users can also snap a picture of the enhanced image for later reference.

Nokia Music PC client Out of Beta with Version 1.0

Nokia yesterday released new version of Nokia Music PC client and announced that the free music management software has officially out of beta. The Nokia Music PC client was first released in May, with several bug fixes over the past few months.

Other categories and manage your music tracks, the software will also make music transfer easier between your mobile devices and PC. You can set up auto-transfer rules and then drag and drop your music to your devices directly. It also has built in CD ripping tools so that you can rip the music without the needs to install other software. Check out the download link and details here

Nokia Beta Labs Releases Nokia Photos 1.5

Nokia Photos team has put up their new Nokia Photos 1.5 on the Nokia betalabs, the free application let you transfer and manage your photos or videos from your S60 phones. The Nokia Photos 1.5 will partially supported on all Nokia S60 devices and will fully supported on all Nokia NSeries devices.

Other than manage your photos and videos from your mobile phone, you can use the Nokia Photos 1.5 to convert videos into playable format for your NSeries phone. It can also be used to resize photos to your screen resolution so that you will only need to store the smaller size photos on your phone. Other features includes geotagging your pictures with the Nokia Photos 1.5 and better integration with Nokia Ovi services.

Download Enhanced Calculator for S60 for Free

Already available in Nokia’s Series 40 devices, Nokia has ported the enhanced calculator application over for S60 devices and you can now download it for free from the betalabs. The enhanced calculator is a java application that gives you more maths function. The latest version will only runs properly in devices with QVGA screen (240×320 or 320×240 pixels), in other cases you will get an error message and the application will be closed.

Other than English, the latest update posted last week also includes localized string for German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese and Turkish.

Nokia Email service Available in Nokia Beta Labs

Nokia Betalabs has put up the Nokia Email service software, giving an easier access of your email accounts from Google, Yahoo and other ISPs. Requiring only your email address and password to set-up and get going, users can view, read, forward, delete, compose and send emails, as well as download and upload attachments and send them on the fly, without having to be tethered to their PCs.

The service also comes with push email, ensures emails are sent to the mobile device as soon as they are received. More information about the setting-up and using of the Nokia Email service can be found at the Nokia Email service page in Nokia Betalabs (https://betalabs.nokia.com).

Nokia Music PC client Updated with Bug Fixes

Nokia has released a new version of the Nokia Music PC client today, which will fix over one hundred defects according to the update news: “Things we have been able to solve include a large number of ‘stability’ type defects, the ‘Unknown Artist’ bug, as well as a number of issues around device connection.”

To upgrade to this new version, you can just install the new version over the old version for Windows XP users. For Windows Vista users, you will have to uninstall your old Nokia Music PC client beta version first and run the new installation file.

The supported devices list has also been extended to include the following devices: N76, N78, N81, N82, N91, N95, N95 8GB, N96, 5220, 5310, 5320, 5610, 6210, 6220, E66, E71.

The new version is also a beta version, where Nokia will release another Beta update after 28th July. The Music Store integration might get activated after 28th July.

Nokia Map Loader 2.0 beta Available

Nokia today put up the Map Loader 2.0 on their betalabs. The new version now includes a built in online store where you can purchase and download navigation, traffic information and city guide licenses directly to your device.

Nokia Map Loader 2.0 is a PC application for Windows XP and Windows Vista. As long as your phone is connected with PC Suite you can trasnfer the maps or traffic information to your phone. The new online store will accept payment via credit card. License will be sent to you directly after the payment.

According to Nokia

The new “Services” tab will let you browse through Drive*, Drive&Walk*, Traffic* and City Guides before deciding what to buy. In addition, the clear and easy to understand graphical representation will show what region is covered by the license. You will see exactly what you buy before buying.

Selecting “Guides” will let you browse through City Guides and Multimedia Guides from all over the world. Selecting one will show you information on the contents and you can download them directly to your device. It has never been so easy to find the right guide for your destination
