Nokia’s Comes With Music service will be launched in Singapore in the coming weeks, together with the new Nokia 5800 XpressMusic device and Comes With Music editions of the Nokia N96, Nokia N85 and Nokia N79, as well as the Nokia 5320 XpressMusic and 5220 XpressMusic devices. Consumers in Singapore will be the first in the world to get their hands on a Comes With Music-enabled Nokia 5800 XpressMusic when it hits the stores.
Nokia has announced that it has start selling the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic in select markets globally, including Russia, Spain, India, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Finland, among others. Aiming to put music into the hands of millions, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic offers all the music essentials including a graphic equalizer, 8GB memory for up to 6000 tracks, support for all main digital music formats, and a 3.5mm jack.
Fresh out from FCC lab, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic has just been approved by FCC. The first Nokia S60 5th edition touch screen phone will be available worldwide beginning in the fourth quarter of 2008 for an estimated retail price of 279 EUR before taxes and subsidies. According to Reuters early this month, Nokia 5800 will be sold in India, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Russia and Spain by end of this year. The rest of the market will most likely not getting the phone until 2009.
Qik, a free live video streaming service for users to stream live video to the Internet with their mobile phone camera, will be included with the new Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone. Their application will not be pre-installed to the list of applications, but can be easily activated in the Download! folder. Check out the announcement video here.
Today sees the introduction of S60 5th Edition, which introduces Touch UI to Symbian S60 platform with full support for tactile feedback. Enhanced display resolution support and a new Widescreen mode further compliments the touch UI. The new platform also includes a framework for the use of advanced sensor technology. This allows S60 device manufacturers to create innovative new device concepts for a wider range of user segments, while preserving the rich capabilities of the existing software platform.
On par with the Nokia 5800 XpressMedia rumor last week, Reuters reported that Nokia will be announcing their first full touch screen phone next week on October 2nd. Known as Nokia Tube project, a video showing its touch screen UI was posted on YouTube in June this year. The press event will be held in London.
While the rumor October 2nd launch date is coming, mobil.idnes.cz has got a fresh Nokia 5800 XpressMedia in red. According to the source, it again confirm that Nokia will be announcing the full touch screen phone on October 2nd in London and will be available in by early next year or by the end of this year.
