Neonode Inc’s Subsidiary Neonode AB Files for Bankruptcy

Neonode today announced that, on December 9, 2008, its Swedish subsidiary, Neonode AB, filed a petition for bankruptcy in compliance with the Swedish Bankruptcy Act (1987:672). According to Per Bystedt, CEO and Chairman of Neonode, Inc., “For the past six months we have focused on turning the business around and solving the financial situation of Neonode AB. We continue to have great belief in our technology and believe we have a competitive product in the Neonode N2 but without sufficient funds we cannot continue operations.”

Neonode AB is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Neonode Inc and has carried out business with focus on the development and sales of touch screen mobile phones such as the Neonode N2 since 2004.

Neonode Inc intends to continue to operate as a technology licensing company, focusing on developing and marketing the Company’s patented touch screen technology, zForceto third parties. Neonode Inc. is currently working with its major stakeholders on a plan for a complete restructuring of the Company.

Neonode N2 Gets New Firmware Update Today

Neonode has released a new software upgrade to its touch screen phone, the Neonode N2, including features such as a new and enhanced music player and advanced WAP browsing capabilities.

With the software release the Neonode N2 will be updated to version 2.1.552.2m additional features including;

WAP browser from Winwap Technologies Oy providing advanced WAP
capabilities
New and enhanced music player with detailed cataloguing
Improved user interface and re-designed sweep indicators
Extended area for text messaging
Audio Recorder Application
Sudoku game

The Neonode N2 will now support 16 languages; English, Swedish, Portuguese (Portugal), Portuguese (Brazil), Standard Norwegian, New Norwegian, Dutch, Greek, Italian, French, Spanish (Mexico), Spanish (Spain), German, Czech, Bulgarian and Russian. The upgraded software is available www.neonode.com

Neonode N2’s New Color Portfolio Now Available

Neonode announced the availability of Neonode N2, its touch screen phone, in a new range of colors on the company’s web shop. The new color portfolio holding the lively mix of the colors Lime (green), Azure (blue), Rubine (red) and Roza (pink), will initially be available through the company’s web site and is expected to be rolled out to current markets during the course of the year.

“The release of the color portfolio is a natural extension of a great product that has already sold more than 30,000 units in the last quarter of 2007. We strongly believe that the new colors as well as upcoming accessories will constitute a product assortment that will enhance our coming sales of Neonode N2 even further,” said Per Hellberg, Vice President of Sales at Neonode.

The Neonode N2 has been available in black since its launch in August 2007 and sold 31,000 units in Q4 2007.

Neonode Secures German Handset Distribution Deal

Swedish handset manufacturer, Neonode, has entered the largest market in Western Europe by securing a deal with Brodos, a German distributor. The company’s entry into Germany is facilitated by Sapera, a market entry and sales specialist.

According to a 2007 industry report by market research firm RNCOS, the German market comprises 25.6% of all handset sales in Europe.

Has independent mobile chain of 500 outlets, called my-extra, Brodos is the provider of major brands such as Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericsson and LG.

The Neonode N2 will be sold in my-eXtra’s stores in beginning of May. Stefan Vitzithum, CPO at Brodos AG, said that Neonode N2 will be an attractive addition to their portfolio of consumer technology products.

Neonode Enters Asian Distribution Deal for Neonode N2

Neonode announced that Excel Field International LTD has placed an initial $1.1 Million order for the Neonode N2 handset for April. Excel Field International will distribute the phone through its 4,000 retail outlets in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.

Neonode N2 uses the zForce optical touch screen. It doesn’t need any hard pressure or stylus but works quickly and accurately by reacting to sweeping and tapping signals on the screen. The intuitively organized user interface, neno, delivers quick and easy access to applications and content. Neonode N2 was launched in Europe (third quarter 2007) .
