When the original LG Vu launched on AT&T, it wasn’t necessarily the best reviewed device on the market. And because of that, it looks like AT&T and LG have worked together to make something that, at least on paper, looks like it will be a much-improved iteration. Especially with that slide-out landscape QWERTY keyboard.

First and foremost, the LG Vu Plus is designed to be the next best thing when it comes to AT&T’s offered MoviTV service, FLO TV. While the original Vu could do the same thing, it’ll be a lot better to watch your favorite shows on the 3-inch capacitive touchscreen on the Vu Plus this time around. The service is just $9.99 per month, and it comes packed with a 7-day free trial if you’ve never used the service before and want to give it a try.

It features access to AT&T’s 7.2Mbps HSDPA, has a 3MP camera on the back with autofocus and video capturing capabilities, and you’re able to use AT&T’s Video Share as well. It also has a MicroSD card slot, because 50MB of internal memory just isn’t enough. AT&T is launching the device on June 6th, and it will run you $149.99 after a new, two-year contract gets signed, and you send in that $50 mail-in rebate.

MobiTV is broadening support to its managed technology platform carriers and operator customers with a robust and secure Digital Rights Management (DRM) solution that enables users to store content on their mobile device and watch it offline wherever they want.

Its DRM solution will allow for a number of business models including subscriptions, rental, content metering, and sharing of content across multiple devices and platforms. By having the same DRM solution on all platforms, MobiTV, Inc.’s technology allows easy authentication with minimal involvement by the end user.

“It was imperative for us, as multi-screen distribution becomes core to our business, to create a solution that allows for consumption of content on multiple screens and platforms, whether someone is on a plane or sitting in front of their home television” said Cedric Fernandes, VP Technology, MobiTV, Inc. “This solution provides the ability to track and supply content rights for the end user as well as the device, creating new business models around the multi-channel screen viewing concept.”
