The site will offer customers the ability to complete a ticket transaction from a mobile phone directly. The mobile web platform, http://mobile.tickets.com, supports all browsers and carriers according to the company.

The technology delivers barcoded tickets directly to customers’ mobile phones immediately following purchases. The day of the event, the customers simply present their mobile phones for quick and efficient scanned entry into the venue, making the entire ticket transaction experience as simple and convenient as possible.

“The mobile web is a market that is experiencing rapid growth and adoption among consumers. We are partnering with companies like Tickets.com that understand the value of the mobile channel to interact with their customers,” said Nick Taylor, President, Usablenet. “Our goal is to enable customers to successfully and seamlessly access the Website, including all functionality, through an interface customized for their specific mobile device. It’s all about expanding choices and maximizing innovation – when we’re able to partner with a company that’s as dedicated to that as we are, it’s truly rewarding.”

Atos Origin has successfully completed roll-out of a new, innovative mobile ticketing service for Heathrow Express train network between London Heathrow’s airport terminals and Paddington Station in Central London. Passengers on the Heathrow Express can now have their tickets sent directly to a mobile phone or PDA, so they do not have to queue to collect tickets at the station before they travel.

This is the first implementation of AVANTIXMetro, an e- and mobile ticketing solution designed and built by Atos Origin. It allows individual and corporate customers to book online through the Heathrow Express website. When making a booking, customers can opt to receive either a bar-coded e-ticket that is registered to their mobile phone, or a self print version of the ticket. Both types of ticket are then scanned and validated on-board the Heathrow Express train. Paper tickets can still be purchased on the train direct from the train manager.

George Fripp, Heathrow Express international corporate account manager comments that, “Most of our customers are incredibly busy professionals that use our service because it’s the most convenient way to get to and from Heathrow Airport in just 15 minutes. E-ticketing builds on that by taking the hassle out of booking journeys and making their travel even more seamless. All you need to do is book, board the train and go. It’s as simple as that.”

The terminal used by train staff is built on the Casio IT-3000. It is a rugged, versatile industrial data terminal with an integrated thermal printer. Its versatile communications options include standard Bluetooth and IrDA, and a PCMCIA slot allowing GPRS and WLAN communications. With the built-in printer and colour touch screen making it ideal for mobile sales, ticketing, parking enforcement and service management.

The first mobile ticketing solution using UK mobile payment initiative payforIT has been launched today by interactive mobile specialists Dialogue Communications and AEI Mobile. Mobile ticketing will enable party-goers to purchase tickets to a London nightclub via their mobile phone using payforIT, and to receive the tickets via SMS.

PayforIT is the cross-operator payment initiative that allows consumers to purchase goods and services via their mobile phone up to the value of £10. Dialogue and AEI Mobile will be working together to provide a mobile ticketing solution for Drum & Bass Arena event taking place at Scala Club in London on 15th August and tickets are on sale today for £10.

Guiom Peersman, Dialogue’s UK managing director explains: “We believe this is the first time payforIT will be used to purchase event tickets. People wishing to buy a ticket can text “Scala” to short code 81330 and in return will receive a WAP link to Scala Club’s mobile internet site. From there tickets are available for purchase through the payforIT payment system and the ticket will be delivered directly to the buyer via SMS.
