Sony Confirmed Bringing PlayStation Suite for Android Smartphone

Xperia Play Android smartphone has now got its gaming content confirmed. At a PlayStation press event in Japan today, Sony has announced that it will bring a cross platform PlayStation Suite to other devices including Android and tablets. The content will at least include the games from first generation of PlayStation and will be sold through a gaming store called PlayStation Store on Android smartphone.

As for the supported Android smartphone, will the Xperia Play the only phone that you can use to buy/play games? It looks like Sony will allow other manufacturer to make other compatible Android smartphone to access the PlayStation Suite. The devices would just need to gain the PlayStation Certified license/logo from Sony

Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCE) today unveiled “PlayStation®Suite” (PS Suite), delivering the PlayStation® experience to Android™ based portable devices*1. Through this entirely new initiative, users will be able to enjoy PlayStation content on an open operating system for the first time in PlayStation history.

In the dramatically evolving and diversifying mobile market, the number of users who enjoy games casually on a variety of devices including mobile phones, smart-phones and tablet PCs, has been increasing significantly. By offering “PlayStation quality” content to this rapidly growing market, SCE will not only deliver the PlayStation experience to a wider base of users around the globe, but will also be able to offer game developers and publishers the potential to further expand their business opportunities to these devices.

In providing the PlayStation experience on Android based portable devices, SCE will commence a “PlayStation®Certified” license program for hardware manufacturers. Through this program, SCE will offer necessary support, including development support as well as logo licensing, to ensure the delivery of PlayStation quality experience across various devices.

On the software front, SCE plans to provide PS Suite content within this calendar year, starting with original PlayStation games*2 (PS one® classics) that will allow users to enjoy “PlayStation quality” gameplay on their Android based portable devices. SCE also plans to open PlayStation®Store where users will be able to download content in an easy to use environment, directly via the Android based portable devices. Moreover, SCE will provide a new game development environment in an effort to ensure new and compelling content is delivered on PS Suite, which will also offer opportunities for a wider base of developers and publishers to further expand their business on various portable devices.

Newly developed content for PS Suite can also be enjoyed on the next generation portable entertainment system (codename: NGP), which SCE announced today. Users who have never experienced PlayStation content can get a taste of the PlayStation experience through PS Suite and from there, they can enjoy the ultimate portable entertainment experience that is only possible on NGP.

SCE will vigorously enhance the entertainment world delivering the PlayStation experience to a wider base of users.

Gameloft Supports 2nd Generation of Android Phones

Gameloft plans to launch High Definition games on next generation Android phones like the Motorola Droid and the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. Gameloft also continues to support the current generation of Android phones and announces the imminent arrival of titles such as Assassin’s Creed.

“The arrival of this new generation of phones will allow the development of High Definition games that make the most of the technological capacity and the speed of execution offered by the new Android phones. Consumers will benefit from a top quality gaming experience,” says Gonzague de Vallois, vice-president of Publishing at Gameloft.

Konami to Release 6 Windows Mobile Games in December

Konami is bringing six new mobile phone games for Windows Mobile OS, including the DanceDanceRevolution S, Japanese baseball game, Mobile Pawafuru Proyakyu, and the shooter classic Gradius II. The release of the apps is scheduled to coincide with the launch of the Japanese version of Windows Marketplace for Mobile in December.

Mobile Pawafuru Proyakyu will be released only in Japan, while DanceDanceRevolution S, Gradius II, TwinBee, Konami’s Sudoku and Konami’s Solitaire will be available for downloading in Japan, the United States and Canada. All games comes with on screen virtual button so that it will work with full touch screen phone alone.

Updated Zeemote JS1 V3 to Support Most Sony Ericsson Phones

Zeemote announced today that its updated Zeemote JS1 V3 is now compatible with “virtually all Sony Ericsson Handsets”, including the latest Sony Ericsson Yari, Aino, Satio and eco-friendly Naite. In addition, the Zeemote V3 Bluetooth Controller will feature broad compatibility with virtuallyall BlackBerry Smartphone’s, and all Nokia, Samsung and LG S60 mobile devices and will support the same functionality.

The company is also promoting the Zeemote JS1 V3 with “Ultimate Mobile Game Pack”. The “Ultimate Mobile Game Pack” will bundle with a Gameloft game activation code allowing customers to choose any title from the Gameloft catalogue compatible with their phone.

Zeemote has announced today that its Zeemote JS1 Bluetooth Gaming Controller now works with an even broader range of mobile devices from Nokia, Samsung and LG. Sony Ericsson and T-Mobile ‘drive’ Fast & Furious into Spring with the W705 Zeemote edition phone

The Sony Ericsson W705 will be exclusively available on T-Mobile, bundled with a Zeemote JS1 Bluetooth Mobile Gaming Controller and pre-loaded with the Fast & Furious Zeemote Ready game. First N-Gage Motion Control Game Coming Soon

Available soon on Nokia’s N-Gage platform, the new Bounce Boing Voyage will be the first N-Gage that supports motion control. It will be available during spring 2009 and is supported by Nokia N79, Nokia N82, Nokia N85, Nokia N95, Nokia N95 8GB, Nokia N96 and the Nokia 6210 Navigator. Current owners of Bounce Boing Voyage will enjoy a free upgrade of the motion control supported version when available.
