Selling in Hong Kong since March last month, the LG KC910i is an upgraded version of the original LG Renoir KC910. The differences between the KC910 and KC910i are the little hardware changes as well as the phone software. The new KC910i is available in black color only for now.

With the same hardware specs, the new LG KC910i is in a new black body with a new camera module design, which has no camera lens now. Its camera software has been upgraded with a newer version for better touch UI. The newer camera software is also used in the new LG Arena KM900 too.

Featuring a 8 megapixel camera, the LG-KC910i includes a xenon flash, up to 1600 ISO sensitivity and supports image stabilization, auto-focus, manual focus, Face Tracking, Smile Shot and blink detection. An embedded GPS receiver gives the LG-KC910i the ability to geo-tag photos for later plotting on an interactive map. It can also record video from 5fps up to 120fps, which allows it to record in both fast and slow motion. The phone also plays DivX and Xvid movies straight out of the box, without the need for additional encoding. There are also built in WiFi, microSD card slot and 7.2Mbps HSDPA wireless connection.

SanDisk and LG have demonstrated a new technology for mobile phones that enables mobile network operators (MNOs) to offer their customers multimedia-rich services using removable flash memory cards. The demonstration, using the new LG KC910 Renoir (upgraded consequently), ensures that content preloaded in these cards can only be used in approved handsets. Network operators can freely distribute preloaded and downloaded content on removable memory cards, while restricting the accessibility of such premium content to only their network subscribers.

SanDisk and LG Electronics have worked closely to implement this new technology on the LG KC910 Renoir handset. By allowing IP connectivity to the memory card in the handset, the memory card serves as a network node that is remotely manageable by the operator using industry-standard TCP/IP and OMA Smart Card Web Server.

“With this advanced technology, handset manufacturers and MNOs will be able to meet the increasingly sophisticated demands of consumers who want easy access to premium content on their mobile devices,” said Amir Lehr, senior director, business development, SanDisk. “The new LG KC910 Renoir highlights SanDisk’s storage-based service delivery technology that is designed to enhance an MNO’s ability to facilitate content usage in a flexible manner and lets service providers customize their method of content distribution.”

Other than Sony Ericsson C905 and Samsung Innov8 i8510, LG KC910 is the third GSM mobile phone that featuring a 8 megapixel camera module. The LG KC910 has a codename called LG Renoir, which came from a name of an artist. According to GSMHelpDesk hands on, the KC910 has implemented a similar interface as Samsung TouchWIZ UI. Unlike Samsung, which places the TouchWIZ bar at the side, LG has a row of little icons at the bottom of the display screen. You can move the icon out from the bar to the main screen, and it will be activated on the screen.

The LG Renoir KC910 is the successor of LG Viewty, which debuted as the slimmest 5 megapixel phone. The 8 megapixel module on the KC910 is a Schneider-Kreuznach certified optics, assisted by a xenon flash and supports ISO sensitivity up to 1600. strengthening the phone’s camera features are image stabilization, auto-focus, manual focus, Face Tracking, Smile Shot and blink detection. The camera application on this test model needed some improvements. GSMHelpDesk finds it quite slow from launching the camera application to taking a snapshot.

Other than the 8 megapixel camera, the LG KC910 also comes with built in GPS, WiFi, microSD card slot and supports HSDPA wireless data connection.

Read more about the LG KC910 Renoir preview here as well as few camera samples (note this is not the final version yet). You should see the LG KC910 available in some countries in October next month.

LG Electronics announced today that it would launch the LG-KC910, a 8 megapixel multimedia phone with a full touchscreen interface. The LG-KC910 boasts top-of-the-range camera capabilities and the latest multimedia features, all combined with a 3.0 inch full touchscreen. Like its predecessor the LG Viewty, which debuted as the slimmest 5 megapixel phone, the LG-KC910 will be the slimmest 8 megapixel handset on the market at just 13.95 mm when released.

The LG-KC910 leads the industry with its 8 megapixel camera, which is being developed to include Schneider-Kreuznach certified optics, a xenon flash and ISO sensitivity up to 1600. Further strengthening the phone’s camera features are image stabilization, auto-focus, manual focus, Face Tracking, Smile Shot and blink detection. An embedded GPS receiver gives the LG-KC910 the ability to geo-tag photos for later plotting on an interactive map. A variety of creative shot modes, so far only found on standalone digital cameras, will be included.

The LG-KC910 is also the first handset for the global market to include Dolby Mobile, an integrated suite of audio processing technologies which brings depth and richness as well as clean, powerful bass to the music listening experience. The LG-KC910 can record video from 5fps up to 120fps, which allows it to record in both fast and slow motion. The phone also plays DivX and Xvid movies straight out of the box, without the need for additional encoding.

Rounding out the phone’s comprehensive feature set, are A-GPS enabled navigation, compatibility with the latest 3G HSDPA networks for connections up to 7.2Mbps and Wi-Fi for even faster internet access. The phone also includes a Jogging Buddy program that uses GPS technology to help track workouts, a feature sure to please exercise enthusiasts. The KC910 will be available for purchase beginning in October.
