With no buttons to fall back on, the LG Dare can be very difficult to use, due to the way it handles touch input. It’s too bad, because some features, like the camera and the fast Web browser, deserve to be part of a great all-round package. Clearly a lot of effort went into the interface design. It’s unique, intuitive and very customizable. It looks great and the polish extends deep into the phone’s menu structure, making the entire package feel modern. Unfortunately, serious hardware flaws stymie the designer’s efforts, and where the phone should shine, it’s more frustrating than fun.

The truth is, the Dare may not be as glamorous or well-priced as the Instinct, but it has a better browser, a motion sensor and some cool software tricks that make it a fine phone for people who choose to remain in Verizon’s walled garden.

The Dare seems to be living up to everyone’s expectations, including mine. I really have not been disappointed with anything yet. Actually, I have been regularly surprised as I discovered new, unexpected features.

The Dare is available for $199.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement.

From the sleek, slim appearance, to the all touch-screen operation, the LG Dare VX9700 is Loaded with multimedia functionality. This 3G V CAST-capable phone has a 3.2 megapixel and video camera that automatically adapts to low or unevenly distributed light for better quality pictures. The photo editing tool lets customers turn their photos into personal masterpieces with features that include borders, landscape and a fun doodle feature right on the screen. Customized photos can be uploaded to a social networking site directly from the phone. Additional information on the LG Dare will be available later this month.

The glossy front and satin back LG Decoy has an unique Bluetooth hands-free headset integrated into the design. The headset slips into the back of the device for easy transport and charging. The slider phone also sports a five-way directional joystick for easy navigating through all of Verizon Wireless’ multimedia features such as V CAST Music and V CAST Video. The Decoy will be in stores on June 16.

The new LG Chocolate 3 trades in its slider form factor for a slim flip style that brings with it the quintessential music player complete with control wheel on the outside and an FM transmitter to play music through a car stereo. The new Chocolate has dual speakers and Bluetooth for wireless stereo sound, and inside is a Gigabyte of memory to store the latest tunes. The expandable memory card slot can support up to a 8 GB microSD card. The new Chocolate has a 2.0 megapixel camera and supports V CAST Video and ESPN MVP. The LG Chocolate 3 will be in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores and available online in July.

Other than the updated user interface, the LG Dare VX9700 touch screen will get a WQVGA 240×400 pixel resolution. The phone will also allow you to take photo with its 3.2 megapixel camera, which support auto focus and flash module.

It is not sure if LG Dare VX9700 is using the Opera v9.5 browser, but the leaked info promise you the HTML Browsing capability. It might also support the auto landscape rotation since it has a built in accelerometer. More info will be posted when available. See next page for more photos.
