LG Cookie First Touchphone Series in UK For Generation Z

Last week, LG announced the release of the LG Cookie Series, a collection of vibrant coloured full-touch phones designed for young “Generation Z” mobile consumers. The LG Cookie Series consists of three full-touch mobile handsets: Cookie, Cookie Style and Cookie 3G, provides more versatile texting functionality, enhanced music options, wider social networking support, and a customisable, user-friendly interface and design. All the Cookie phones offer an intuitive and easy-to-use virtual QWERTY keypad allowing for easy texting without the bulk of a physical keyboard. The keypad can be switched from portrait to landscape mode, providing young users with a more convenient texting method. The LG Cookie Series will be available in the UK in September.

With over 10 millions of the LG Cookie sold worldwide, LG is launching its successor with the LG Cookie Plus (GS500). The LG Cookie Plus follows its successful predecessor in offering a full touchscreen, but enhances the Cookie experience with a fun graphical interface and convenient social networking connectivity. To build on the success of the original Cookie, LG also plans to offer a full batch of new Cookie handsets in 2010. Over 10-Million LG Cookie Phones Consumed Worldwide

LG announced today that the massively popular LG Cookie (LG KP500) touchphone has shipped more than 10-million units since its launch in November 2008. The LG Cookie has been popular across a broad group of consumers since its debut, selling over five million units in Europe, two million in Latin America and two million in Asia. The phone has sold at a rate of over one million units every month this year and LG is expecting demand to increase approaching the holidays.

“We are pleased that the LG Cookie was able to reach the benchmark of 10-million shipments in a short period of time,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “The sales record adds credence to our philosophy of studying consumer demands and offering a full touchphone that balances premium features with sleek design. LG will continue to shape the future by delivering products and technologies to satisfy the tastes and expectations of our consumers.”

LG is expecting the Cookie to continue to record steady sales like the LG Chocolate and LG Shine phones. Based on the huge success of the LG Cookie, the company plans to roll out a successor with updated features in early 2010.

5 Millions LG Cookie Sold in Nine Months

LG announced today that more than five million LG-KP500 “Cookie” mobile phones have been snapped up worldwide since its launch nine months ago. As a slim and lightweight handset, LG’s Cookie is fully equipped with most of the key features found in premium full touch screen phones, including a 3.0 megapixel camera, 3D accelerometer and an Active Flash User Interface with vivid widget icons to provide easy access to commonly used functions.

“Achieving five million units in sales in only nine months is proof that we’re on track with our goal to make Cookie a phone that’s loved by everyone,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “Our strategy to provide a full touch screen phone at an affordable price has succeeded beyond our original expectations. If the current trend continues, we expect to see Cookie hit sales of 10 million by the end of this year.”

LG has also expanded its offering by 10 new colors in addition to the original four — black, Vandyke brown, anodized silver and elegant gold — available at the phone’s launch.
