Lenovo LePhone S2 Running On Both Android & WP7

The Lenovo LePhone S2 is on its way to productions. The device has been caught running on both Android and Windows Phone 7 OS in a dual-boot configuration. It is very unusual to see this combination.

This is the first time we ever heard the device name. We are pretty sure the LePhone S2 won’t hit US. The LePhone S2 will be the first device to runs Windows Phone 7 OS in China.

Lenovo May Partner up With NEC on Making Smartphone

Some of us might have know that Lenovo does make their own smartphone. One of their smartphone creation was Android handset called LePhone. It appears that Lenovo is getting ready to make another smartphone with Android based Operating System.

Today, Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing stated there’s possibility that Lenovo and NEC ends up partner up to make a smartphone. Yang did not give any further information on their partnership or specs on the device.

Entry Level Lenovo ET10 Rugged Smartphone for China

Just approved on China wireless certification authority, Lenovo is launching its new windows mobile smartphone ET10 in China. The Lenovo ET10 is only equipped with a QVGA 3.4-inch touch screen (240 x 320) but is rugged enable for various protection. It also supports China’s 3G (TD-SCDMA) and has a 3 megapixel camera, built in GPS, WiFi. [via mobile-review]

Lenovo Acquiring Back its Lenovo Mobile Handset Business

Lenovo Group today announced that it is acquiring the entire interest of Lenovo Mobile Communication Technology Ltd. from a group of investors led by Hony Capital. Consideration of the acquisition is approximately US$200 million in cash and Lenovo shares. Lenovo has previously sold the company last year, at around US$100 million.

Yang Yuanqing, CEO of Lenovo Group, said: “As Lenovo’s global PC business continues to make steady progress, we view mobile Internet as a key growth opportunity moving forward globally. Lenovo has prepared itself in this area. We have developed first class products with excellent hardware and operating systems integration. We will launch these innovative new products in China soon.”

MWC2009: Lenovo to Sync BlackBerry and ThinkPad via Bluetooth, Even When Your ThinkPad is Off

Lenovo and Research In Motion (RIM) announced that the two companies will work together to promote new Lenovo mobile solutions that will help on-the-go business users enhance their mobile computing and communications experience through tighter integration between Lenovo ThinkPad laptop computers and BlackBerry smartphones.

Lenovo Constant Connect, the first solution developed by Lenovo, will allow enterprise email received on a user’s BlackBerry smartphone to be automatically synchronized via Bluetooth® onto the user’s ThinkPad laptop – even if the ThinkPad laptop is off – without the user having to take any additional steps.

This level of integration and availability dramatically improves access to email on the Lenovo ThinkPad laptop from wherever a BlackBerry smartphone can access a connection. In addition to greater flexibility and convenience, it can also reduce the need to use the laptop with fee-based Wi-Fi networks. Lenovo Constant Connect is expected to be available from Lenovo and its business partners in the second quarter of 2009 in the U.S, and to be rolled out in markets around the world later in 2009.

Lenovo Locks Out Thieves from ThinkPad Notebook PCs with SMS

Lenovo today announced plans to bring customers a new security defense against unauthorized data access on Lenovo ThinkPad notebooks. The Lenovo Constant Secure Remote Disable feature lets users send a simple text message command via a cell phone to render their PC useless to unauthorized users when the notebook is lost or stolen. Lenovo’s Remote Disable feature will be available on select ThinkPad notebooks equipped with mobile broadband starting in 1Q 2009.

To activate Remote Disable, users create a simple text message command such as “lockdown PC now” or “PC shut off” that can be used if a notebook PC is lost or stolen. A user sends the kill command to the ThinkPad notebook via cell phone to the PC’s onboard mobile broadband service and the computer becomes inoperable. If the PC is turned off when a user sends a kill command, the PC will automatically disable the next time someone turns it on. Users also receive a confirmation text message that validates when the Remote Disable technology has been successfully executed. To reactivate the disabled PC, a user enters his or her pre-set passcode created during notebook startup.

Lenovo’s Remote Disable is included in the price of the notebook at no additional charge. It will be available 1Q 2009 on select ThinkPad notebooks that are enabled for mobile broadband. Remote Disable will be supported worldwide wherever cellular phone systems support GSM (Global System for Mobile communications) SMS (Short Message Service) text message transmission.
