Samsung SCH-M830 Windows Mobile Smartphone Gets WiMax

Running on the Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional OS, Samsung and SK Telecom has start selling its new SCH-M830 pda phone in Korea with WiMax support. The WiMax will be used with SK Telecom WiBro services, giving a stable wireless data connection speed of up to 3Mbps. The M830 also has a similar specs as the T*Omnia, comes with a 3.3-inch WVGA full touch screen, 2GB memory, bluetooth, WiFi, microSD card slot and a 3 megapixel camera.

LG Lollipop for Youth Available in Korea

Tagged with a codename ‘1723′, LG has introduced its new LG Lollipop clamshell phone in Korea. Featuring a nice external LED display, the company is promoting this model specially for Korean between 17 to 23 years old. Also known as LG-SV800, KH8000 or LH8000, there are a total of 220 LEDs outside for users to form different animations for fun. Up to 22 LED patterns are available by default, users can create their own pattern using the pre-installed application.

Other features include a 2.8-inch WQVGA internal LCD, 3 megapixel camera, 1.3 megapixel secondary camera, microSD card slot and motion sensor.

South Korea introduces number portability for Internet call

Korea Communications Commission (KCC) has decided to approve the number portability system, allowing fixed-line telephone users to switch to Internet phone while retaining their home phone numbers. It means South Koreans now able to make Internet calls without changing numbers.

According to the KCC, the introduction of new system was expedited through various efforts including support for the construction of location system for emergency calls and settlement of disagreement among operators.

This decision is likely to promote the use of Internet phone service in the country.

Samsung Style Report ClamShell Featuring Dual LCD for Korea

This week Samsung has launched a new twin-LCD clamshell phone, called “Style Report” in Korea. The Style Report (SCH-W570) not only comes with a 2.2-inch display screen inside the clamshell, it also has another 2.2-inch external touch screen. The external touch screen allows you to use it for most of the function like music player, reading text messages or watching mobile tv on the external screen. You can also use the 3 megapixel camera with clamshell closed. Style Report will be sold at around 600 to 700 USD when available.
