Kogan return: Aussie Google phone will launch after redesign

After the first Google Android phone in Australia originally planned to launch on December 15 last year, then pushed back to January 29, Kogan Technologies then delayed the launch indefinitely, citing “potential future interoperability issues”.

And now, Kogan is back, according to the Android Community:

…founder Ruslan Kogan claiming that their new model will be more like the Apple iPhone in design, with a large 3.8-inch touchscreen for Android to roam freely across. Midnight Update’s Seamus has interviewed Kogan (you can see the video below), who insists that the device will hit the market and, after that, gets to play with an Agora prototype to confirm that it actually exists in more than just renders.

The Kogan Agora, when available, it will be another smartphone powered by Google’s Android OS. Kogan showed off a working prototype of the device at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas recently.

Aussie Google phone delayed indefinitely

After the first Google Android phone in Australia originally planned to launch on December 15 last year, then pushed back to January 29, Kogan Technologies has just delayed the launch indefinitely, citing “potential future interoperability issues”.

The Age reported, according to Ruslan Kogan, who manufactures and sells electronic devices and other gadgets under the Kogan brand, pulled out of the launch of the “Kogan Agora”, in order “to ensure its compatibility with all future Android applications.”

The Kogan Agora, when available, it will be the next smartphone powered by Android after T-Mobile G1. Agora will comes in two version, the Agora will be sold at AU$299 and the Agora Pro will be sold at AU$399. The Kogan Agora (AU$299) features a full QWERTY keyboard, central navigation key, 2.5″ touchscreen, microSD slot, and 3G connectivity. The Kogan Agora Pro (AU$399) adds a 2 MP camera, Wi-Fi, and GPS.

Kogan showed off a working prototype of the device at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas recently.

Right after the set of photos leaked online, there is more goodies available today for the Agora Android phone. If you are wonder how would the Kogan Agora Android phone perform with its smaller display screen, a video is posted on YouTube with a short walkthrough and demonstration. Not really a leaked video though, the video poster PPRSydney could be a PR firms promoting for Kogan. Watch the video inside.

Kogan’s Agora Android Phone Live Photos Leaked

For those who have pre-ordered the Android phone form Kogan, it looks like the company will meet the Jan 29th delivery schedule. A set of the Agora live photos are leaked today, possibly showing the final design of the Android smartphone.

The leaked prototype photo doesn’t seems to be a sleek design, too much space is wasted around the display screen or it should have used a bigger screen. The Kogan Agora (AU$299) features a full QWERTY keyboard, central navigation key, 2.5″ touchscreen, microSD slot, and 3G connectivity. The Kogan Agora Pro (AU$399) adds a 2 MP camera, Wi-Fi, and GPS.

It is not sure that if Kogan will present their final Agora Android smartphone in the CES, Android Community promised to check it out at the CES event this week.
