Those who have been keeping up with the Nexus S sure do know that the device will launch in December 16th. But, our folks from SlashGear has managed to get their hands on the Android handset. We are giving our first impression along with a hands-on video.

The external form have a similar touch as the Samsung Galaxy S. What sets them apart are its unique curved display. The device features Super AMOLED screen, 1GHz Hummingbird CPU, Android 2.3, 16GB of internal storage, microUSB, and 3.5mm headphones. Unfortunately, the microSD card slot is no where to be found, this indicates no expandable memory. For further details head here.

The second Android smartphone from Google itself has been announced. The new Google Nexus S from Samsung is introduced with the updated Android 2.3 Gingerbread in a curved design. The full touch screen smartphone comes with 4-inch Super AMOLED touch screen, front video call camera, 5 megapixel camera, 1GHz Hummingbird processor, 16GB internal memory and WiFi b/g/n.

Although the new Android 2.3 Gingerbread is not bringing much changes overall, it has many improvements on the user interface, new multitouch keyboard and will support the Near Field Communication (NFC) and VoIP. The Nexus S will be available first in US starting December 16 this month and in UK from December 20.

We’ve talked a lot about the Samsung Galaxy S around here for awhile now, and considering its specifications, why wouldn’t we? And by now, there’s probably a few of you out there that are pretty interested in seeing it up close and personal, or as best you can, without actually owning one. Well, thanks to our friends over at Android Community, we finally get some hands-on time with the device. Plus, the standard unboxing.

We’ve encapsulated a few of the details they talk about in the main article, but for the most part we just focused on the pictures. The Galaxy S features a 4-inch capacitive touchscreen, which is also the second handset to have Samsung’s Super AMOLED display technology. It has a 1GHz “Hummingbird” processor under the hood, it’s running Android 2.1, and it has Samsung’s proprietary customized User Interface (UI), called TouchWiz 3.0.

As for the hands-on details, AC says that the handset is deceptively light, and save for a bulge at the base of the device, pretty thin, too. And, there’s no surprise that the most entrancing part of the device is that 4-inch display. As it takes up the majority of the front, that’s all you can see. And that’s not a bad thing at all. Additionally, that 1GHz processor keeps things not just chugging along, but clipping along at a ridiculous pace. So, both the display and internals are impressive. That’s good. If you want to read the rest of the first impressions, head on through the link below. In the mean time, check out some of the images, as well as the video, below.

The Samsung Galaxy S managed to make waves all over the Internet, even as other phones kept getting announced, and others even released. That goes a long way to show us that the Galaxy S has a lot of sustaining features, even if it hasn’t been officially released. People haven’t forgotten about it. And, now that Vodafone UK have gone ahead and pulled the curtain off their pre-order page for the handset, things are only going to get better for the newest superphone from Samsung.

We’ve already been over this a few (hundred) times, but we’ll go ahead and add a bit of a refresher. Specs wise, the Galaxy S features a 4-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, a 1GHz Hummingbird processor under the hood, and it’s running Android 2.1. Just three features listed here (there’s plenty more, but these are the defining ones), and already we remember why we want this phone so badly.

According to Vodafone, the Galaxy S is going to be made available for free, starting on new, two-year contracts. You’ll have to pay £35 per month to get the hugely subsidized price, but we imagine you’re already used to that kind of thing. What makes it better? The wireless carrier is saying that the device will be made available on June 15th. Yes, that’s literally right around the corner. So, get your pre-order on, and when you get your device, be sure to let us know what you think of it!

Looks like Vodafone is trying to keep up the whole “we’ve got good phones” thing, and they’re doing a pretty good job of it, too. According to the wireless carrier’s site, both prodigal Samsung handsets are going to be making their way to store shelves, both digital and brick-and-mortar, here in the near future. Good news for anyone on Vodafone
wanting a new device, and, truthfully, both of them are amazing pieces of gadgetry.

The Samsung Wave is the first Samsung handset to rock their proprietary mobile Operating System called Bada. It’s got a 3.3-inch Super AMOLED display, with an 800×480 display. The phone is pretty thin, and remarkably responsive. And while we didn’t get a lot of time with it, be sure to check out our hands-on time to see if this device is something you’d be interested in.

As for the Samsung Galaxy S, this is a device that we’ve covered in all sorts of different ways here. This is the original version, and it’s packing a large 4-inch screen, the same Super AMOLED technology that’s on the Samsung Wave, and it’s got Android under the hood. Thankfully, it’s Android 2.1. Also, the processor, codenamed Hummingbird, is apparently the fastest on the market right now, beating even the standard 1GHz Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm. Which, obviously, we can’t wait to actually test out.

The two sites that Vodafone have launched are intended to measure the general interest of its wireless customers based on the two handsets future availability. This might mean that only one handset gets launched, but we doubt that’s what Vodafone is planning here. Besides, we imagine that both devices are going to get their fair share of interest, with plenty of clicked buttons to prove it. If you’re under the Vodafone umbrella, be sure to head over there and tell them what you think.

Samsung and Intrinsity jointly announced its new ARM Cortex-A8 processor architecture in 45 nanometer (nm) Low Power (LP), low leakage process technology. This Cortex-A8 implementation, code-named Hummingbird, delivers 2000DMIPS at 1GHz. The Hummingbird comes with 32KB each of data and instruction caches, an L2 Memory cache, the size of which can be customized, and an ARM NEON multi-media extension. Performance and power consumption of the Hummingbird have been validated in silicon.

A multi-Vdd / multi-frequency design methodology was used to ensure the Hummingbird can run at a high speed even at the minimum supply voltage of 1.0V. The low power consumption and the high operating clock performance make the Hummingbird an ideal processor core for use in advanced mobile devices.

“The biggest challenge in mobile processor core design and implementation is to achieve high clock speed performance while keeping the power consumption low,” said Dr. Jae Cheol Son, Vice President, SOC Platform Development, System LSI Division, Samsung Electronics. “Collaboration between Samsung and Intrinsity combines the best design and implementation technologies in the industry in successfully meeting the aggressive performance and power consumption targets of the Hummingbird. Samsung’s forthcoming SOC products based on the Hummingbird will enable our customers to add many more advanced processing capabilities to their mobile products without sacrificing battery life.”
