Huawei has announced i-Mo HSPA modem, which will be demonstrated at the Mobile World Congress. i-Mo supports plug-and-play and data transmission speeds up to 7.2 Mbps (downlink) and 5.76 Mbps (uplink). With its built-in Micro SD card slot, i-Mo can also serve as a USB disk. i-Mo will be available to customers in Q2 2009.

We have already reported last year that Huawei will release their Android smartphone in year 2009. The company has confirmed that its new smartphone based on the Android OS will be presented next month at Mobile World Congress 2009. Together with the Android phone, the Mobile U-life section will also include other mobile products from Huawei.

The GSMA and Huawei have joined forces to help the mobile industry realise the huge potential market for consumer and industrial goods that can connect to 3G mobile networks. Huawei has joined the GSMA's Embedded Mobile initiative, which will initially focus on bringing the benefits of continuous mobile connectivity to the consumer electronics, clean energy, healthcare, transport and utilities sectors.

Apparently Chinese network company Huawei Technologies is seriously entering smartphone industry. The company already has launched a Windows Mobile smart-phone, and now plans to launch Android and Symbian smart-phones next year.

Huawei Technologies has launched the E180 USB stick last week. The 10mm thick E180 is a highly compact device supporting the complete range of HSPA/UMTS and GSM/GPRS/EDGE network technologies, allowing fast uplink speed rates of up to 5.76Mbps and a downlink of up to 7.2 Mbps. It will be available globally in the second half of June 2008.
