PersonalNumber.Com today offers free call forwarding to 150 countries. Previously only available in the UK and US, now users can sign up for a free UK +44 number, which can be forwarded to any land-line (and mobile in many countries) at no cost or else to a Global SIM card.

Customers can register online, and instantly be issued their very own Global number. After logging in, free call forwarding can be set up to five numbers, or set to go to voice-mail. There is zero cost to sign up, no contract, and no fees payable at any time. A free voice-mail to email facility is also provided.

The service is ideal for anyone who wants to be contactable on a single number without paying anything for incoming calls, regardless of location. It is also ideal for any company that needs a UK customer contact number with zero costs applicable.

Only caller charged for this service. Calls from a landline to this numbers are charged by BT at 13p per minute peak, 6p per minute in the evenings, and 5p per minute at the weekends. “Calls to our numbers from mobile phones are included in most UK bundled minutes, but we recommend that you check with your Network Operator,” as their website wrote.

Finnish mobile virtual network operator, Blyk, has chosen Belgian Mobile operator Mobistar, majority owned by France Telecom, to launch advertising funded text service in the country. The invitation-only mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) links young people with brands and simultaneously giving them free texts and minutes every month.

Entry into Belgium is part of Blyk’s next wave of European expansion that was announced last week.

Targeting at 16-24 year olds mobile phone users, Blyk has run over 900 campaigns in the UK for brands such as Coca Cola, STA Travel, Penguin, Buena Vista, L’Oreal and music artists The Kooks and Alphabeat.

It’s the very innovative mobile service and business model.

Seems this service will get more fans since it can guarantee that phone users will be not annoyed with “ads spam”. They just receive information about the brands they like.

For advertisers, Blyk is a new media channel and direct access to the young user market. The statistics convinced us: the service’s average response rate of 29 percent, an extremely high level for any media platform.

Personally, I was so much impressed by this business model: A company links young people with brands they like and gives them free texts and minutes every month! Yeah, it proved that phone bills and contracts a thing of the past…

Blyk, the new mobile network for 16-24 year olds funded by advertising, gives members free texts and minutes every month which equates to an individual saving of over £280 each year – with no contract, no hidden costs or fees – in return for receiving up to six highly targeted advertising messages per day from brands including Xbox, Adidas, STA Travel, Penguin, Brylcreem, Boots, COI and RSPCA.

The service has signed up over 100,000 members since its launch in the UK at the end of September, 2007. According to Shaun Gregory, UK CEO, young people have embraced Blyk because it makes phone bills and contracts a thing of the past. “We believe that communication should be free, like most other forms of media in the UK.”

This service does not annoy its users with “ads spam” at all, so that they’d love to use it. They just receive information about the brands they like. For advertisers, Blyk is a new media channel and direct access to the young user market.

Blyk was co-founded in 2006 by Pekka Ala-Pietilä and Antti Öhrling and has offices in Helsinki, Finland and London, UK. Blyk is now operating in the UK, with other European markets to follow.
