Using the universal Qi technology, Energizer is pushing out its new inductive charger next month in US. The Qi technology is an universal charging standard developed by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), allowing the charger to charge any devices that need up to 5W of charging power. The Energizer Inductive Charger features two large inductive charging zones that don’t require locking the device into a precise position. It also has a USB port so it’s easy to charge an additional device such as a phone, headset, mp3 player, camera or GPS. Two LED charge lights indicate that the device is charging.

“We believe that a universal standard is the future of charging, and by leading the way with one of the first Qi products – the Energizer® Inductive Charger – we are meeting a clear need for a product that makes charging devices easier by eliminating cords and clutter,” said Jim Olsen, Vice President of Marketing for Energizer North America. “This next generation charger is a natural extension of an innovative product portfolio that brings more freedom for people to live and to work using power that’s reliable and convenient.”

The Energizer Inductive Charger will required additional sleeve. It will be introduced with a Qi Sleeve for the iPhone 3GS/3G and a one-time replacement Qi Door for the BlackBerry Curve 8900. The suggested retail price is $89 and the Qi sleeve for the iPhone 3GS/3G and the Qi door for the BlackBerry Curve 8900 will be sold separately for $34.99 each.

You have been familiar with AA and AAA batteries for your cd player, gameboy or camera. Now Energizer is expanding with its new AAAA alkaline battery to provide an alternative power sources for electronic gadgets users.

“Energizer is always innovating to meet the needs of manufacturers and consumers alike,” said Jeff Ziminski, Chief Marketing Officer. “As devices continue to get smaller and smaller, we see a greater need and relevance for the Energizer AAAA.” Energizer has been actively partnering with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) companies to help them design around the AAAA battery. Recently, GN, the world leader in innovative headset solutions, launched the AAAA battery-powered Bluetooth headset.

The AAAA is 42.5 mm long and 8.3 mm in diameter and weighs approximately 6.5 grams. This means that the AAAA batteries weigh 43 percent less, are 40 percent smaller in volume, and are 20 percent thinner than the standard AAA. The Quad A is currently used in flash audio players, Bluetooth headsets, laser pointers and LED penlights, remote controls, and home medical devices, like glucose meters and blood pressure monitors.

Is the Energizer AAAA a much more economical solution compare to normal charging battery? They are better to be integrated like the emergency power source as below
