MWC2009: Samsung M7600 Called BeatDJ, Samsung Acme i8910 is Omnia HD with Symbian

Samsung M7600, Samsung Acme i8910, both leaked Samsung models for Mobile World Congress have got an official name. Apparently Samsung Omnia has got a sibling, which is the Samsung Acme i8910 and will be called Omnia HD. Remember Samsung Acme i8910 was powered by Symbian OS instead of Windows Mobile? It is not sure if there will be 2 version of Omnia HD for different OS. In the other hand, the Samsung M7600 is the new Samsung BeatDJ for music lover. More info will be followed up during the Mobile World Congress next week.

New Samsung Acme i8910 Running Symbian S60 Touch UI

The unknown OS used by the leaked Samsung Acme i8910 has got an answer now, according to info from dailymobile, the Samsung Acme will be running Symbian S60 5th edition and comes with a AMOLED display screen. It did not confirm if it has a 8GB or 16GB internal memory but 8 megapixel camera, GPS, HDMI support, WiFi and 3.5 mm headphone jack is confirmed.

Also according to Eldar from mobile-review [via unwiredview], Samsung Acme is able to record 720p HD quality video, the phone battery has managed to give him a 40 minutes continuous video recording. Let’s hope the phone does have a removable battery!

A new unknown Samsung touch screen phone called Acme i8910 has been leaked on gaj-it website. According to the website, it has a similar specs compare to Samsung Omnia, comes with GPS, WiFi, 3.5mm headphone jack and 8GB / 16 GB internal memory. Even better than Omnia, it is rumored to have a 8 megapixel camera and can do video recording in HD quality.

The source did not confirm that Samsung Acme i8910 will run Windows Mobile OS, its software will support DivX playback and is DLNA compatibility. Check out 2 more photos below:

Samsung Omnia is First Windows Mobile-Based Phone to Achieve DivX Certification

DivX announced certification of the Samsung Omnia (model: SGH-i900). DivX and Samsung recently entered into a multi-year agreement to include DivX encode and decode capabilities into Samsung’s future mobile phones.

The Samsung Omnia is the first Windows Mobile-based DivX Certified phone on the market and the fourth Samsung mobile to achieve DivX Certification. It features 8GB/16GB of internal memory with a micro SD slot, allowing users to keep a media library on the device, and easily enjoy their video on a large 3.2-inch touch screen. It also features a TV-Out feature to play back content from the phone directly on the television screen. This powerful experience and a portable library gives users the choice of how and where to watch their video.

Products that bear the DivX Certified logo have undergone a rigorous testing program to ensure a high-quality DivX media experience, including reliable video creation and playback, interoperability with other DivX Certified devices and the visual quality users expect from DivX.

DivX Extends Video Support to AMD for Mobile Phone and Handheld Device Processors

DivX announced a licensing agreement with Advanced Micro Devices. This agreement will bring DivX video technology to AMD Imageon application processors, extending existing licensing and certification relationships between the two companies. AMD Imageon application processors are designed to power a range of handheld multimedia devices, including next-generation mobile phones and smartphones.

“Including the DivX codec in the AMD Imageon application processor brings additional value to our OEM customers, helping them to deliver a robust mobile media experience,” said Mark Bapst, CTO for AMD’s Handheld division. “DivX technology is an attractive ingredient that enhances our offering for handheld devices, providing excellent quality and a high degree of accessibility.”

The two companies will work together to achieve DivX Certification for the AMD Imageon A250 application processor.
