Cricket Communications and Samsung are now offering Samsung MyShot II SCH-r460, a clamshell phone with affordable price and customized home screen. It also includes MP3 music player with a microSD slot for removable memory, stereo Bluetooth, a large display, a 1.3 megapixel camera and Mobile Web.

The personalized home screen on the MyShot II offering widgets for quick access to your account information, favorite Internet content including news, weather, sports, social networking, and shop for downloads. The Samsung MyShot II is immediately available at Cricket retail stores and dealers for $159.99.

Cricket Introduces National Phone Recycling Program

On this Earth Day 2009, Cricket Communications begins a nation-wide handset recycling program. Customers can drop off their unused phones at participating Cricket stores or print a postage-paid shipping label from Cricket’s website and send their phones to the recycling center.

“A typical phone contains materials like arsenic, zinc and lead, therefore throwing out old cell phones is not only wasteful, it’s dangerous. These materials can seep into groundwater or even end up in the air we breathe,” said Tim Ostrowski, vice president for Cricket who is leading the company’s environmental efforts. “We at Cricket feel a responsibility to do what we can to help protect our environment and our communities. By making this recycling program simple and convenient we hope customers will partner with Cricket to do something good for the environment and help raise funds for Rebuilding Together.”

A portion of the proceeds from the program will be donated to Rebuilding Together, the nation’s leading nonprofit working to preserve affordable homeownership and revitalize communities. Cricket has partnered with Rebuilding Together as a President’s Circle level national sponsor for 2009.

Cricket Communications Start Offering Mobile Music Service

Cricket Communications and today launched its Mobile Music, allowing Cricket customers to purchase and download songs directly to their wireless devices and/or personal computers. Cricket’s Mobile Music service is fully managed by LiveWire Mobile.

Customers can search music by artist, album, song and genre to purchase tracks and download them directly to their Cricket phone for $1.99 each, or receive three download credits for a $5 monthly charge. Songs are available online at www.mycricket.com for $.99 each and customers can use Cricket’s Music Manager software to sideload the tracks to their mobile phone, or buy two copies of each song, one for their PC and one for their phone for $2.25 per song.

Customers can sign up for Mobile Music over the air, online or at Cricket stores and dealers. To experience Mobile Music, customers need a music-capable Cricket 3G handset, with an integrated music player and memory card. Mobile Music is currently available on Cricket’s 3G devices, including the Motorola ROKR, KRZR, SLVR and RZR2; and Samsung JetSet, r610 and r500.

Cricket Communications is now offering the Nokia 1606 flip phone to its portfolio of AWS-capable wireless devices. The Nokia 1606 is suitable for consumers looking for enhanced features like Mobile WEB, Games & Apps and text in a slim, sturdy package with a brilliant internal color display. The 1606 also features a hinge-mounted flashlight, an integrated speakerphone and PC contact synchronization.

The 1606 includes an internal antenna, a 128×160 262K color TFT internal display, a 96×32 monochrome external display, a voice memo recorder, and SMS/MMS with predictive text. The device supports talk time of up to 3.5 hours and standby time of up to 11 days-and weighs a mere 2.68 ounces.
