T-Mobile USA and RIM Introduce the New BlackBerry Curve 8520

T-Mobile USA and Research In Motion (RIM) announced the new BlackBerry Curve 8520 smartphone, a new addition to the BlackBerry Curve series of smartphones, with availability expected on August 5. The new BlackBerry Curve 8520 comes in black and frost colors and features a highly tactile full-QWERTY keyboard for comfortable, accurate typing. It has also got the traditional trackball removed and replaced with a touch-sensitive optical trackpad.

Other than the usual BlackBerry emailing features, the new BlackBerry Curve 8520 also comes with a 2 megapixel camera, built in bluetooth, WiFi, microSDHC card slot and 256MB built in memory. For those business users who love music, the 8520 curve’s 3.5 mm headphone jack and music player shortcut keys on top will let you enjoy the music listening easily.

Sprint Launches Camera-less BlackBerry Curve 8350i

First launched in December 2008 last year, the BlackBerry Curve 8350i is now available in camera-less version for users that do not want to have a built in camera. The BlackBerry Curve 8350i is the first push-to-talk BlackBerry smartphone and comes with built-in WiFi, group connect, GPS and instant connections between the United States, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Peru with International Direct Connect.

The BlackBerry Curve 8350i smartphone is availablefor as low as $149.99 with a two-year service agreement.

MetroPCS to Offer BlackBerry Curve 8330 Smartphone

MetroPCS Communications today launches their first BlackBerry Curve 8330 smartphone from Research In Motion. MetroPCS is also introducing two unlimited rate plans to support the BlackBerry Curve 8330 smartphone. The $50 personal rate plan, for use with the smartphone, will offer flat rate, unlimited talk, text, web browsing, MMS and BlackBerry email access through BlackBerry Internet Service. For an additional $10 per month enterprise customers can receive the same unlimited plan features on BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

The BlackBerry Curve 8330 smartphone will be available for purchase in the following MetroPCS markets beginning the week of March 9th: Greater Miami/Ft. Lauderdale, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, Atlanta, Detroit, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Sacramento.

The BlackBerry Curve 8330 smartphone will be available at all Best Buy stores in the previously listed markets beginning the week of March 9th and select MetroPCS authorized dealers and company-owned retail locations by the end of March.

Rumor: BlackBerry Curve 9300 Gemini with 3G

Reported on BoyGeniusReport, the next BlackBerry Curve series has a model number of BlackBerry 9300. It hs a bigger display screen compare to BlackBerry Curve 8900, which is the latest BlackBerry Curve support EDGE wireless data connection. It has also a more powerful processor, support GSM Quadband network, Triband UTMS / HSDPA wireless data and possibly with built in WiFi and GPS. There is no info on the release date for the BlackBerry Curve 9300, the source expect it to be available by end of this year earliest.

Sprint BlackBerry Pearl, Curve get 4.5 OS update

Sprint today has posted the official version of 4.5 OS for the BlackBerry Pearl and Curve devices available for download. This update includes MMS support, improved email layout, local search, improved music management and Microsoft Word and PowerPoint Files Edit.

SlashPhone Rumor: the touchscreen BlackBerry Bold and slider Storm

Of course the BlackBerry fans will love to hear this rumor. Gizmodo posted a 2009 BlackBerry Roadmap that suggests we will be seeing a touchscreen Bold and a slider Storm soon.

Based on TmoNews Forum, the roadmap table offers some interesting details such as the touchscreen Bold 9900 (codename “Pluto”) with a standard Bold QWERTY keyboard and the unconfirmed slider Storm with a slide-out keyboard, possibly 3G and Wi-Fi.

The list also mentions the new BlackBerry Curve 9220 (previously reported “Magnum” codename), the 3G/HSPA version of the 8900 and, along with Bold 9900, will be possibly announced at 2009 WES.

O2 to Launch BlackBerry Curve 8900 smartphone in UK from 5th January 2009

GPS Unlocked on Verizon Wireless’s BlackBerry Curve and BlackBerry Pearl

Not sure if this is an intentional release, a non-official firmware update has unlocked the built in GPS of BlackBerry 8330 Curve and BlackBerry 8130 Pearl. Quite a number of users on BGR blog post and Howardforums have reported positive on the unlocked GPS. The GPS is said to be working with 4.5 OS but not the 4.3 OS.
