Made for using the PwnageTool in Windows OS, the Window QuickPwn 2.1 is now available with the support of iPhone firmware 2.1. QuickPwn will unlock and jailbreak the first iPhone generation, but will only jailbreak the first iPod Touch generation and iPhone 3G.

Apple Pushes Out iPhone 2.0.2 Software Update

Just about 2 weeks after the 2.0.1 software update, Apple seems to have more bug fixes awaiting with the new iPhone 2.0. The new iPhone 2.0.2 software update is available via iTunes now, no change log is available though.

iPhone Dev Team Releases PwnageTool 2.0.2

iPhone Dev Team has released PwnageTool 2.0.2, which also includes the latest Cydia and the Installer 4 Beta software. The new iPhone jail break tool for Mac OS can be updated through the built in updater Sparkle. Just run it and it will check for the new software updates.

You will need this update especially for those who have upgraded their iPhone to new iPhone 2.0.1 firmware.

Disable Your iPhone Airplane Mode Before iPhone 2.0.1 Upgrade

While quite a number of the iPhone users has got some errors during the iPhone 2.0.1 firmware upgrade, you might want to disable the Airplane mode before you do the upgrading.

If you see the following error, you can disable the Airplane mode when you are on the emergency screen

“Information for activation cannot be obtained from the iPhone”

if you see the the error below, you can click Restore in iTunes to fix it

“iTunes could not update the carrier settings on your iPhone. An unknown error occurred (OxE80000001).”

Video Comparison on iPhone 2.0 and iPhone 2.0.1 Firmware

While Apple did not reveal the change log in the new iPhone 2.0.1 firmware update, iPhoneBuzz has put up 2 iPhone 3G side by side with different firmware for comparison.

According to Vincent, loading up iPhoneBuzz.com is much faster in the new 2.0.1 firmware, compare to the 2.0 firmware. SMS typing and the backup process are also improved and faster. Check out the full report here

If you have jailbreaked your iPhone 3G using the PwnageTool 2.0.1or PwnageTool 2.0, you might want to skip the new firmware update, unless you want to lose the jailbreak until the iPhone dev team release a new version. Here is a note on the iPhone Dev Team blog here

If your 3G iPhone is on a regular contract and you always plan to be with the carrier then you can update but you will lose the jailbreak and access to third party (non AppStore) applications.

Apple Releases iPhone 2.0.1 Firmware

Available now through iTunes, you can upgrade your iPhone to the new 2.0.1 Firmware. The 250MB big pack is surely contains loads of changes, Apple did not release the change log and simply note as “Bug fixes” on the release note.

Not sure how to jailbreak your iPhone 3G with the PwnageTool 2.0 because you do not have a Mac? WinPwn goes 2.0 now and will let you unlock, jailbreak your iPhone (only support jailbreak for iPhone 3G) with the new firmware 2.0.

Some important notes that you have to read

Remove Winpwn 1.0 completely if you have it installed. Installing over the top of WinPwn 1.0 will cause problems.
Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes ( Currently 7.7)
If you already have service with AT&T do not activate or install Youtube Fix

PwnageTool 2.0 for iPhone Firmware 2.0 Available Now!

Just about 1 week after the official iPhone 2.0 firmware is available, the iPhone-dev team has released their new PwnageTool 2.0 to unlock, jailbreak your iPhone with the new firmware

The PwnageTool 2.0 will be able to activate, unlock & jailbreak the first generation of iPhone. As for the iPhone 3G you will be able to done the jailbreak only for now.

An instruction shread by a iPhone 2G user

I upgraded to Itunes 7.7
Connected my iphone. It deteced the iphone and asked for an upgrade, I just cliked download only. This is how I got the original firmware form apple Then disconnected iphone just after the download started.
Before opening the pwnagetool I put my iphone in dfu mode. I tried at least 4 times to do that. The trick was to hold down the power and home botton wait until it restarts. Then pluck it into the dock wait for ten seconds during the apple logo and then release it . It is totally black but itunes recognized it as in recovery. This is the dfu we need.
I did not choose the expert mode. Chosed iphone 1g . It had found the restore firmware that itunes had already downloaded. Asked me for the bootloaders. I browsed both of them respectively and then it created the custom ipws.
Clicked next and it recognized the dfu but asked for shutdown. I had problem here before, It said that it can not put the device in dfu mode. This time it detected and asked for a shutdown. I just pressed both power and home button until it restarted. Then watch for the screen. It tells you when to release the power button and when to release home button. Then it was ok. My iphone was ready to be restored with the custom ipws. The tool gave a message everything ok and i must just close pwnagetool and use itunes.
I didn’t do anything to iphone just left it where it was in dfu mode. Itunes had already gave the message that it needs to restore my iphone. I just said ok. The restore screen was in front of me. Just pressed alt button on the keyboard and while pressing it i clicked restore, and I showed itunes gently my custom ipws. It restored it successfully.
After that the phone rebooted, bootneutral was opened automatically , first it neutral the boot and then flashed the baseband. All was automatic. Then after the last reboot, there it was jailbroken and unlocked with all features working.

Today iPhone-dev team made a new message, the new PwnageTool 2.0 seems to be available for download “Very Very soon” according to the post. “Happy Birthday guys! Very Very soon we will have for you a downloadable birthday present for you, so hold on tight!”

When available, the PwnageTool 2.0 will be able to activate, unlock & jailbreak the first generation of iPhone. As for the iPhone 3G, the team are still working on the unlock solution for it. iPhone 3G users will be able to activate & jailbreak their iPhone 3G for this release

DesbloqueioBr Unlocked iPhone 3G via Sim Card

Just like the first generation of iPhone, the new iPhone 3G claimed to be unlocked via the sim card method. DesbloqueioBr has demonstrated the method to Engadget in video. Different from the iPhone-dev hacking, the unlocking programming is stored in a customize card which will need to be attached together with the sim card.

Once the altered sim card inserted into the iPhone 3G, you just need to key in the PIN number to unlock the phone. Is this going to be commercial in your nearby store? The company plans to release more info in the next few days. Check out the video below.
