Sharp New Android Handset Featuring Yahoo!

Yahoo! is planning to release an android smartphone. The device is made by Sharp and targeted to folks in Japan. It would have a custom user interface skin and of course, Yahoo! as the main search engine.

The handset is heading to SoftBank Japan as the Yahoo Phone. It features 1 Ghz processor, a 4.0″ qHD display, Android 2.3 Gingerbread and a 8MP shooter. When the customers purchase the handset, they will received Yahoo Premium for 2 years free.

HTC Kingdom & Rider Images Leaked

We have just get two leaked pictures of HTC devices. They are called HTC Kingdom and Rider. As you can see below, its the Rider. It’s form factor very similar to Thunderbolt except it’s in bright red chase. But at the same times the Rider also similar to EVO 3D with its circular buttons on bottom.

On the other hand, we have the picture of HTC Kingdom. The device has front-facing camera so you can do video chatting. It also appeared to have a 4.3-inch touchscreen with slimmer and thinner body. The device kinda remind us with Droid X.

Nokia Will Received $1 Billion From Microsoft For WP7 Phones

Nokia had decided to abandoned MeeGo and Symbian. The Finnish company decided to partner up with Microsoft and used Windows Phone 7 as their primary Operating System. To completed this collaboration, Microsoft is throwing in $1 Billion for Nokia to promote and develop the WP7 handsets.

Of course, Microsoft will received something in return. All Nokia investment in WP7 and its profit on the handsets. Microsoft give Nokia $1 Billion to preserved their spot in Nokia and prevent the company to jump in Android.

Umeox Comes With Android Solar Powered Phone

Umeox introducing android solar powered handset called the Apollo Solar Powered. The device will runs on Android and needed 2.5 hours of sunlight exposure to refill the battery after daily used. Unfortunately, if the phone is completely death, you will need 17 hours of sunlight to be able to activated it again.

The Apollo will features 3.2-inch with 320×480 Display, Android 2.2 (Froyo), 1GB storage internally, with a microSD card slot, FM Radio, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, 3 megapixel rear camera, and 3.5mm audio jack.

It comes in two models: one for the US (MTK6573) with support for 850/1900Mhz bands, and one (MTK6516) that works in Europe and much of Asia.

Sprint Samsung’s portrait QWERTY Android phone Image Leaked

Here comes another Android phone with a portrait QWERTY keyboard. This time Samsung have decided to create a handset similar to BlackBerry. The device is heading to Sprint as you can see on the following images.

The distinct style where the QWERTY keyboard placed directly under the touchscreen seems still loved by many. There’s not much information regarding the device. But we are hoping to see it at Mobile World Congress 2011.

Samsung Galaxy S Will received Froyo Updates This November In UK

The rumor regarding Froyo updates for the Galaxy S has been around for awhile. Previously, Samsung UK mention that the update will be available by the end of September but that’s never happen. Now, the folks that live in UK can only watch other countries getting their updates.

Fortunately, Samsung UK has finally gave out some information about Froyo’s update via Tweeter. As you can see in the pictures, the tweet mention that the update will arrived in UK two months later than the rumor had said. The ironic part of this is how android never arrived on time when it comes to their platform updates.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X8, budget phone for Android

Following its Cedar and Yendo unit, Sony Ericsson offers another Xperia lineup called X8. Targetting mid-to-low segments with less than EUR200 (US$247), the device’s size is between X10 mini and X10. It has 3 inch TFT HVGA (320 x 480 pixels) capacitive touchscreen (single touch), 128MB internal storage with additional storage via microSD card, a 3.2 megapixel camera with VGA video recording, Wi-Fi 802.11g and HSPA at 7.2Mbps download.

The Sony Ericsson team isn’t decided whether the phone will be launched with OS 1.6 then be updated to OS 2.1 later or directly pre-loading OS 2.1, according to Gajeto. The budget phone itself will be available on Q3.

New HTC Legend and HTC Desire Android Smartphones Unveiled

HTC today introduced an enhanced HTC Sense experience that will be available on two new Android smartphones, the HTC Legend and HTC Desire. The new HTC Sense comes with a new HTC application and widget called HTC Friend Stream that seamlessly aggregates all of your social communication including Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr into one organised flow of updates. This simple aggregation makes it easier than ever to focus on what friends are doing as well as to view the images and links that they share.

The new HTC Sense experience also introduces broad improvements to applications including the browser, email client and others. In addition, the new version of HTC Sense includes a new newsreader application and widget, as well as a new seven-screen ‘Leap’ thumbnail view for quick and easy access to specific screens.

As the HTC Hero successor, the HTC Legend boasts a unique design with a smooth, continuous surface, machined from a single aluminum block into a seamless compact frame. It includes a stunning 3.2 inch, AMOLED HVGA display. The traditional trackball has also been replaced with an optical joystick, surrounded by a narrow button to improve usability without interrupting its unique design.

Similar to the HTC-made Google Nexus One, HTC is launching its own version of Nexus One with the HTC Desire. Unlike Nexus One, the HTC Desire does not equip with a active noise cancellation and physical trackball. It uses an optical joystick and according to the company, it can priced the HTC Desire lower without the active noise cancellation. The HTC Desire also comes with a 3.7 AMOLED WVGA display, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 5 megapixel camera, LED flash, bluetooth, WiFi and GPS.

The new HTC Legend will be available in Europe through Vodafone and in the direct channel beginning in April. It will roll out to other parts of the world including Asia in early Q2. HTC Desire will be broadly available to customers across major European and Asian markets in early Q2. The HTC Desire will be exclusively available in Australia through Telstra. The enhanced HTC Sense experience will also be offered as a free upgrade on the HTC Hero in Europe and Asia.

Gingerbread: Next Version of Android Tipped by Brian Swetland

Google has been hard at work with their free mobile Operating System Android. The company gave us some dessert versions of the Android OS like Cupcake, Donut and Eclair — which many of you out there know as version 2.0 on the DROID and the Nexus One.

We also know that the next version of the free mobile OS will be Froyo, which apparently combines the words Frozen Yogurt. And now for those with a sweet tooth, we get word from Senior Staff Software Engineer at Google Brian Swetland of the next version of the Android OS which turns out to be “Gingerbread”.

A few days ago while blogging to clarify some confusion on “the Android Kernel” Swetland said: “We’ve been doing this roughly every other kernel release since about 2.6.14. This week we’re finalizing our move to 2.6.32 for the Android “Froyo” release, and we’ll likely be on .33 or .34 for “Gingerbread”. So as you can see the G codename is out of the bag, can you guess which will be the name of the H version of Android? My bet is on Halva, go on and let us know what you think.

Rumor: Motorola Morrison Android Smartphone for Q4?

According to a leaked screenshot on TmoToday, T-Mobile has included a Android smartphone from Motorola on its Android smartphone roadmap. Along with the HTC Magic, Samsung Bigfoot and Samsung Houdini, the new Motorola Morrison is set to be available in Q4 this year. Motorola has been start working on Android OS based since last year, why would it (or T-Mobile) plan its releases after the two Samsung Android phones?
