Motorola Ends Their Android Update For 4 Devices

Motorola has decided to stop updates for several handsets. There won’t be any updates for the Motorola Clique Xt, the Motorola i1, Motorola Flipout, and Motorola Charm. As for now, both the Charm and Flipout are running Froyo. While the Clique Xt and i1 stuck with Cupcake.

So for those who used all the devices from following list above. It’s up to you weather stick with your device or times to do some upgrade, device wise. Currently, you have several choices such as Nexus S or the brand new dual screen handset, Kyocera Echo. Both devices will runs on Android 2.3.

Motorola CLIQ XT Will Stuck With Cupcake Forever

Previously, we have heard the CLIQ XT update to Android 2.1 will be held back quite sometimes. But today, Motorola has officially announce that the Motorola CLIQ XT will remain Android 1.5 forever. There’s won’t be any update for CLIQ XT.

Motorola decided to discontinued their plans on update because after the long and extensive testing, they decided that the new update will not provide “optimal customer experience” that Motorola wanted.

Sony Ericsson Vivaz 2 (MT15i/Halon) GSM/UMTS Phone Get Leaked

Mobile World Congress 2011 is only few weeks away. But, the Sony Ericsson Vivaz 2 (MT15i/Halon) which originally going to be unveiled during that event has been leaked. Previously, the device is running S60 but Sony Ericsson has made some modification in term of its Operating System. They have decided to replace it with Android 2.3.

The device will packed with a 4-inch display (resolution of 480×854), an 8 megapixel camera with LED flash, 512MB of RAM, a Qualcomm MSM7630 800 MHz processor, a 1500 mAh BA700 battery, and runs with Gingerbread. Also, it features a standard 3.5mm jack, a microUSB slot, and a HDMI port. According to Mobile-review, the device will hit the market around April and as for pricing, it will cost you between €320 to €350.

Dell Aero For AT&T Released Today

AT&T Dell Aero is on sale today. It features a 3.5-inch 640 x 360 touchscreen, 5-megapixel camera, triband UMTS/HSPA, WiFi and Bluetooth, a 624MHz Marvell CPU, a microSD card slot ( 2GB card preloaded), a Flash Lite browser, GPS/A-GPS, quadband GSM/EDGE and Android Market access. Dell Aero is the company first smartphone that reach US. It will be sold for $99.99 with a new two years contract and $299.99 without contract.

Unfortunately, it will runs with Android 1.5. Dell are calling the OS a “superset” of Cupcake, cause by their modifications:

Dell developed a tremendous amount of customization and features on top of cupcake to deliver the experiences that matter most to customers. Popular features Dell incorporated on top of cupcake include Microsoft email with Active Sync, handwriting recognition, one-click upload of photos to social sites. Dell Blaze Leaks Out

Dell is getting serious with their Android headset production. Recently, there are leaked about Dell Thunder and now Dell Blaze is next. Our fellow from Android Spin just received the picture of Dell Blaze headset.

The Dell Blaze is smaller than the Thunder but almost the same size as the Palm’s Pixi and similar to the Dell Aero. As you can see in the picture, it runs Android 1.5. There are no clear detail about the future update.

T-Mobile Rolls Out Android 1.5 Cupcake

Finally, T-Mobile G1 users in US are now start getting Android 1.5 Cupcake over the air updates. The new Android 1.5 is bringing few improvements and adding a soft QWERTY keyboard to allow text input via the touch screen. It will also add the ability to upload photo / video directly to Picasa and YouTube from the G1.

Android 1.5 for T-Mobile G1 Postponed to Early June

Posted on its support forum, T-Mobile has told its T-Mobile G1 users that it will only roll out the Android 1.5 updates in early June. The message seems to be deleted from its forum, so it is still not confirmed if the released has been postponed to the next two weeks.

We are working diligently to get Android 1.5 out as soon as possible, while aiming to ensure a consistent, positive experience for our customers. We’re finalizing the build this week to ensure optimal functionality and smooth delivery. T-Mobile G1 Users in UK Getting Android 1.5 Updates?

A few T-Mobile G1 users from Android Community forum has reported to have received the latest cupcake updates from T-Mobile UK. The over-the-air updates is about 44MB in filesize and will updates the Android to version 1.5. There are also many others in UK did not receive the updates notifications yet but should be getting it by end May.

The new Android 1.5 is adding a soft QWERTY keyboard to allow text input via the touch screen. It will also add the ability to upload photo / video directly to Picasa and YouTube from the G1.
