Amazon to Launch Kindle Mobile eBooks for Mobile Phones

With the announcement of Kindle 2, Amazon is planning to let Kindle 2 to sync with other mobile devices. According to its press release, “Amazon’s new “Whispersync” technology automatically syncs Kindle 2 and the original Kindle, which makes transitioning to the new Kindle 2 or using both devices easy for customers. Kindle 2 will also sync with a range of mobile devices in the future.” Amazon spokesperson Drew Herdener also told the NY Times the company is now working on Kindle books for mobile phones.

Amazon.com Application for iPhone and iPod touch Now Available on Apple App Store

Amazon.com today announced its Amazon application for iPhone and iPod touch is now available on the Apple App Store. The Amazon app offers an easy way for users to search and browse for products offered by Amazon and thousands of retailers, access Amazon’s popular shopping features such as Customer Reviews, and purchase using 1-Click Shopping and Amazon Prime.

The Amazon app for iPhone and iPod touch includes an experimental feature called “Amazon Remembers”. Amazon Remembers helps customers keep track of items they see in their daily lives and even tries to match photos of products to the same or similar products available on Amazon.com. Customers simply snap photos with their iPhone, the photos are automatically uploaded to Amazon.com, which then tries to find products similar to the ones in the photos. As soon as the customer receives the results, they can then purchase the item immediately or “remember it” for later in their Amazon account.

“We designed the Amazon app to be a quick and easy way for iPhone and iPod touch users to shop, browse, and buy with Amazon.com,” said Sam Hall, director of Amazon Mobile. “We’re also really excited about Amazon Remembers because it’s a fun and useful way to use the iPhone camera to find and remember items while on-the-go. Customers can build visual lists of things they want to remember, buy, or even learn more about.”

The Amazon app is available free from Apple’s App Store on iPhone and iPod touch or at www.itunes.com/appstore/.

gTunes? Amazon store in Android platform

Apple’s iTunes will not walk alone in the mobile industry: an Amazon music and video store application will run on Google’s Android mobile platform. Yeah, it’s a special suprise prior to T-Mobile’s HTC-built G1 launch tomorrow!

The Amazon music store on Android will almost for sure be a mobile version of its AmazonMP3 online digital music store, which is gaining popularity, but still far behind iTunes. Any video store would seem to be based on Amazon’s just relaunched Video On Demand service. It would seem unlikely though that you’ll be able to stream movies over the service, instead, I would bet you’ll only be able to buy them.

Amazon TextBuyIt Enable SMS Shopping

Amazon today introduces TextBuyIt, a new service that lets you use text messages to find and buy products sold on Amazon.com. Simply send a text message to “AMAZON” (262966) with the name of the product, search term or a UPC or ISBN code, and Amazon replies with the product or products that match the search, along with prices. To buy an item, customers simply reply to the text message by entering the unique single digit number next to the item they want. Customers will then receive a short phone call from Amazon with the final details of their order and asking them to confirm or cancel the purchase.When customers choose to purchase something for the first time using TextBuyIt, they will be asked for their e-mail address and shipping ZIP code they use for their Amazon.com account. With this information, Amazon uses customers’ default settings for payment method, shipping address and shipping speed, including 2-Day shipping for Amazon Prime members.
