Palm Treo Pro Launched on Vodafone New Zealand Network

Palm today announced the Treo Pro smartphone on the Vodafone New Zealand network. Powered by Windows Mobile 6.1, Palm Treo Pro comes with built in Wi-Fi, GPS and UMTS/HSDPA network capabilities.

Treo Pro’s thin design blends a flush, high-resolution color touch screen and a full QWERTY keyboard with a removable battery that packs up to five hours of talk time and enough strength for the business user’s needs.

The Treo Pro smartphone features including:

One-touch Wi-Fi button
Today screen enhancements, Web search directly from the Today screen
Ringer switch — Silences the device immediately
Screen saver — Lets users know at a glance — without turning on the device — what time it is and whether they’ve missed a call or have a new SMS/MMS message.
New voicemail indicator — The center button flashes to let users know that a voicemail is waiting.
Dedicated email and calendar buttons
World phone — With high-speed UMTS/HSDPA network capabilities
Integrated GPS — Users can access maps, turn-by-turn directions and point-of-interest (POI) searches.

Palm Treo Pro Now Available in US

Palm today announced that the unlocked Treo Pro smartphone is now available in the United States. Treo Pro is the latest smartphone from Palm, comes with built in Wi-Fi, GPS and UMTS/HSDPA network capabilities. Treo Pro is unlocked, giving end users the flexibility to simply insert their existing active SIM card and immediately start using their Treo Pro anywhere there is GSM coverage, without a new contract.

Treo Pro is now available for a suggested retail price of $549 through the Palm online store and its reseller. The Treo Pro smartphone comes with a power charger, microUSB cable and a stereo headset (3.5mm). Other accessories designed exclusively for Treo Pro (sold separately) include a vehicle power charger, leather side case, travel microUSB cable, cradle, extra battery, TTY audio adapter, and replacement styli.

Palm today introduced Treo Pro, a new smartphone powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional and includes Wi-Fi and GPS capabilities. Treo Pro will be available from Vodafone and O2 in Europe and from Telstra in Australia, also will be available in an unlocked version in the United States, Europe and Asia Pacific.

The Treo Pro smartphone features including:

Treo Pro will be available in September in Europe through Vodafone (from free to EUR 399 with contract) and O2 (pricing is available from O2 direct sales and online business stores), and in Australia through Telstra (from free with contract). It will be available in the United States in the fall through the Palm online store (http://www.palm.com/store) as well as select Internet, retail and enterprise resellers for a suggested retail price of $549. The U.S. version is unlocked and unsubsidized. Detailed regional pricing is available from local resellers and distributors. Additional Treo Pro availability is scheduled to follow worldwide.

Official Palm Treo Pro Demonstration Video

Other than the accidentally releases of press photo shots, slashgear has released an official video demonstration from the company. The Treo Pro will be powered by a 400MHz CPU, it is going to have a 256MB ROM, 128MB RAM and a 320 x 320 resolution display screen. Watch the video after the jump.

Palm to Announce Treo Pro Today, Press Photos Available Now

After the few Treo Pro leaks on the internet, it looks like Palm is going to announce Treo Pro today. Although there isn’t any press releases issues to us at the moment, official press photos of the new Palm Treo Pro has been sent out from some PR representative. Watch out for the official announcement today, and enjoy the official press photos in high resolution for now.

Together with the accidental flash demo leaked on the Palm website, one of the largest Treo community forum has posted a massive photo gallery of the Palm Treo Pro, previously known as Treo 850w. The Treo Pro will be powered by a 400MHz CPU, it is going to have a 256MB ROM, 128MB RAM and a 320 x 320 resolution display screen. Enjoy the Treo Pro photos after the jump!

The photo set also included a size comparison with Palm Centro, the Treo Pro should be slimmer in terms of thickness.

More Palm Treo Pro Flash Demo Screen Capture

Just few hours after the Treo Pro flash demo has been discovered on Palm website, the flash movie has been taken down from the web server. One forum member in TreoCentral has managed to put up a few more screen capture of it.

Apparently the Treo Pro has a total of 101.18MB program memory, not the 32MB we have read from the past rumor. Before you will need a expansion memory card, you can use the internal 103.05MB memory for your file storage. Like other HTC smartphone, you will have a communication manager with various quick access to toggle Airplane Mode, Phone, Bluetooth and WiFi. The Palm Treo Pro supports up to 32GB of micro SD memory card, the card slot is protected under the battery cover, although you do not need to remove the battery to insert the memory card.

Rumor: Upcoming GSM Treo 850 Named Treo Pro

The CDMA world has already got the new generation of Treo smartphone, the Treo 800w. For the rest of the GSM mobile network users, the Treo 850w is coming soon with built in WiFi and GPS. There is no announcement date yet, but a Treo 850w hardware feature walkthrough flash site has been discovered on palm website is giving us a clue that it will be arriving soon. The Treo 850w could be named Palm Treo Pro and you can see its hardware design in details here.

The Treo Pro will be running the windows mobile 6.1 professional. Similar to the upcoming Treo 800w, it will come with built in WiFi and will be using a micro-USB connector for battery charging and desktop sync. Note that these specs might not be the final list.

Rumor: Detail Specs of Palm Treo 850 Available

The first leaked photo of the Treo 850 was just posted last week, today TamsPPC is saying to have obtain the specification of the device through a friend working at Palm. The Treo 850 is indeed with a codename Skywriter, it looks similar to Palm Centro, but the source says it is a evolution from Treo 750 series.

The Treo 850 will be running the windows mobile 6.1 professional. Similar to the upcoming Treo 800w, it will come with built in WiFi and will be using a micro-USB connector for battery charging and desktop sync. It sounds impossible to have a 32MB SDRAM while running the multi-task Windows Mobile OS, just note that these specs might not be the final list.
