Sprint today announced the launch of Sprint 4G mobile broadband throughout the Atlanta metro area, Las Vegas and Portland. Sprint 4G delivers peak downlink speeds of more than 10 Mbps and average downlink speeds of 3-6 Mbps.

Telenor Sweden and Tele2 Sweden today announced an agreement to build a joint 4G network in Sweden. The agreement includes the formation of a joint venture for network construction and sharing of spectrum for mobile communication.

Sprint today announced the next markets in the national Sprint 4G roll out, which includes Atlanta, Honolulu, Charlotte, Las Vegas, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas, Portland, Fort Worth and Seattle. Sprint also expects to launch service in multiple markets in 2010 including Boston, Houston, New York, San Francisco and Washington, D.C.

LG Electronics (LG) announced today that it has independently developed the first handset (user equipment) modem chip based on 3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE)technology standards. The modem chip can theoretically support wireless download speeds of 100Mbps (megabits per second) and upload speeds of 50Mbps.

French's mobile telephony market has created at least 100,000 direct and indirect jobs. According to the French Association of Mobile Operators, invesment in this sector has reached €33 billion, while the size of the market reached almost €22 billion in 2007.
