The folks from Cellpassion was invited earlier this week by Nokia to get their hands on the Nokia N8. The device will be running with Nokia’s new Symbian^3 OS. The new Symbian^3 OS has much better and smoother user interface.

The handset has a multimedia powerhouse and comes with a 12 MP camera that can shoot videos in 720p HD resolution. N8 also has the ability to connect a USB pen drive to the phone and play music/video off the pen driver. Check out the video of Nokia N8 hands on below.

Nokia N8 Battery is Removable

Although Nokia N8 battery can not be removed easily, but it will be just 2 screws away according to a prototype on ArabNokia forum. Once you take out the 2 screws at the 2 sides of the phone body, the bottom cover can be removed to access the battery slot. The battery can then be taken out. It is still troublesome though for those who carry a second battery and need to swap the battery outside, but the option is there. [via thenokiablog]

If mobile phone’s camera is your first priority, Nokia N8 is definitely worth a look when it is available in next few months (Q3 2010). The 12 megapixel camera module is capable of recording 720p HD video, comes with Xenon flash and optimized auto focusing. A 720p sample video is released by Nokia based on a prototype. Its quality is one of the best among the camera phones available now. Original source is also available for download in mp4 format.

12 Megapixel Camera Phone Nokia N8 Officially Announced with 5 Colors

Powered by the Nokia latest Symbian ^3, the Nokia N8 is surprisingly announced today with its powerful 12 megapixel camera and Xenon flash. The N8 will also go on sale in Q3 this year at an estimated price tag of 370 euro. Other than the dark grey version previewed by mobile-review, there are other colors available too in silver white, green, blue and orange. According to Nokia, the Xenon flash on the Nokia N8 is 30 percent smaller compare to its usual design but yet able to produce a similar level of flash power. The team has also improved the auto focusing speed, as well as a fast 150 milliseconds latency in the shutter release.

Other than taking 12 megapixel still picture, the Nokia N8 is capable of recording 720p HD video and edit them using its pre-installed editing suite. The HDMI connector will then allow you to easily play your videos with a much bigger TV screen. The first release of Symbian ^3 has also implemented with multi-tasking and gestures like multi touch, flick scrolling and pinch-zoom. There are different homescreens for you to customize with various apps and widgets.

The Nokia N8 is Nokia’s first device to be integrated with Qt. Developers can now download the Nokia Qt SDK in beta to start develop software for the Nokia N8.

FCC Approved Nokia N8 12 Megapixel Camera Phone

With the Nokia N8 early preview and detail specs sheet exposed, the Nokia N8 has also gotten FCC approval this week. The documents did not spell out Nokia N8 but just a code name RM-596 though. According to Engadget, FCC also revealed the inclusion of T-Mobile 3G band, making it possibly to reach US when launch. The only question now is the official announcement. Nokia has delayed the announcement of Nokia N8 with Symbian^3 to Q3 this year (mid-July?). It will be another few months for them to further enhanced the phone’s software.

Samsung “AMOLED 12M” Has Optical Zoom with 12MP Camera

Following the launch of Pixon12 in June, Samsung is releasing its new 12 megapixel camera phone in Korea with a codename Samsung “AMOLED 12M” (SCH-W880). The Samsung “AMOLED 12M” is not only got a brand new jog dial design at the side to make it a real camera design, it has also integrated a 3x optical zoom for the camera module. The phone is going to be sold in Korean market from early October.

The Samsung AMOLED 12M enables users to take pictures quickly and easily, thanks to the Dedicated Camera Power Key which also provides a real digital camera-alike look and grip feeling. Samsung AMOLED 12M features fast image saving for next shot, so users can move to next shot within around 2 seconds. The phone also provides video recording (1280 x 720) which offers 30 frames per second.

With Touch Auto-Focus (AF) tracking, users can simply select focus point with the touch of a finger, after which the AF function will automatically follow the object, keeping it in focus even as it moves across the screen. Moreover, Smart Auto feature allows users to capture the perfect images as the camera automatically changes the scene and mode based on its object, background and lighting.

12 Megapixel Camera Phone from LG Called GC990 Louvre

With Samsung and Sony Ericsson releasing their 12 megapixel camera phone this year, LG is set to announce the LG GC990 Louvre with Schneider-Kreuznach optics. Featuring zero shutter lag, intellizoom, Xenon flash and touch focus with the full touch screen, the 12 megapixel camera module can capture HD video in 1280 x 720 resolution. It will also support up to ISO 3200, but expect to see more noises with higher ISO sensitivity setting.

As for the user interface, the LG GC990 Louvre is powered by the company latest S-Class 3D UI with the 3.2-inch display screen. According to GSMArena, the new camera phone is not officially announced yet but it was displayed in a product exhibition show in Korea. We shall expect the official detail from LG soon.

Rumor: Samsung Launching M8920 with Optical Zoom?

Not too long after its latest Samsung Pixon12 M8910 announcement, it is not sure what the company is planning next on its next press event on June 15th. While we are expecting to see some info on the Samsung Unpacked website tomorrow, a spy photo has revealed yet another 12 megapixel camera M8920 with a 3x optical zoom. The upcoming press event will be held at the same time at London, Singapore and Dubai. It will include new smartphone across different operating platforms and new multimedia phones.

Samsung Pixon Upgraded with Pixon12: 12 Megapixel Camera

While Sony Ericsson has a Satio available in early Q4, Samsung will send out its world first 12 megapixel camera to Europe by end of June this month. Announced today, the Samsung Pixon12 M8910 shares the same design as Samsung Pixon, which is a 8 megapixel camera phone announced in September 2008. The new Pixon12 now uses a 12 megapixel camera sensor, 28mm wide angle lens, Xenon flash and a 3.1-inch AMOLED screen.

The Samsung Pixon12 enables users to take perfect pictures quickly and easily, thanks to a Dedicated Camera Power Key which gives users fast one-touch access to the camera function. Samsung Pixon12 also features fast image saving for next shot, auto scene detection and Touch Auto-Focus (AF) tracking where you can simply select focus point with the touch of a finger, after which the AF function will automatically follow the object, keeping it in focus even as it moves across the screen.

With Samsung Share Pix, the Pixon12 lets users easily upload images and videos to popular social networking sites such as Facebook, Picasa, Flickr, MySpace, Photobucket, Friendster. Add to that, the phone’s high-connectivity functions including Wi-Fi and HSUPA capabilities mean that user’s photos can be shared to their friends in no time.

The Samsung Pixon12 will be available from end of June in European countries and it wil be expanded to other regions in August.

Sony Ericsson Idou Gets a New Name: Sony Ericsson Satio

First unveiled in February as Sony Ericsson Idou, the first full touch screen phone from Sony Ericsson is now called Sony Ericsson Satio and will be available in early Q4 (October?). Satio supports GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and UMTS/HSDPA 850/900/2100. There will be 3 colors option in Black, Silver and Bordeaux.
