HTC HD2 with Capacitive Touch Screen Announced, Available this Month

With the debut of the Windows Mobile 6.5, HTC has made its new HTC HD2 official and will be available this month. The company TouchFLO 3D is now called HTC Sense which integrated more functions and social networking capability with the user interface without going into Windows Mobile’s menu.

The HTC HD2 also features a large 4.3-inch capacitive touch screen, built in WiFi, GPS, bluetooth and powered by Qualcomm’s new 1Ghz Snapdragon mobile processor. The HD2 is the first Windows Phones that uses a capacitive display and microUSB connector. In addition, HTC smartphones has finally started to equip with a flash LED. There are 2 flash LED at the back of the HD2, which is also useful as a torch light. According to SlashGear’s live hands on report, “there’s no pause or delay to wait for jagged images to be rescaled, or half-chopped paragraphs to shuffle onto the screen. The capacitive touchscreen itself is swift and smooth, and has instantly left resistive Windows Phones in the shade.”

The capacitive touch display on the HD2 supports multitouch for viewing, zooming and resizing websites, Microsoft Office files, PDF documents and pictures easier with just a pinch of your fingers. HTC has also included a new Windows-based version of its Twitter application, HTC Peep. The pictures you take with the 5MP camera can also be quickly shared via Facebook or Twitter.

Palm Announced 2nd WebOS Smartphone, the Palm Pixi

Palm today introduced the Palm Pixi phone, featuring the new Palm webOS platform with its thin body design and a full QWERTY keyboard. Announced for CDMA network, it’s scheduled to be available exclusively from Sprint in this quarter. Also known as Palm EOS/Pixie previously in a rumor, there is no news for a GSM Palm Pixi at the moment.

In addition to linking your information from Google, Facebook and Exchange ActiveSync, Palm Pixi adds Yahoo! and LinkedIn integration to Palm Synergy and assembles it all in a single view. You can get your Yahoo! contacts, calendar and IM, and access to your LinkedIn contacts, including job titles.

Xperia X2 Available Early Q4 with Windows Mobile 6.5

Sony Ericsson announces the Xperia X2, powered by the new Windows Mobile 6.5 in a similar design but improved hardware specs compare to Xperia X1. The Xperia X2 also includes the unique SlideView feature, which provides quick access to frequently used phone activities. SlideView gives an overview of missed incoming activity, notifying the user of any missed calls, e-mails and text messages so users don’t overlook an important contact.

With 14 specially designed preloaded Xperia panels and 16 more to download, you can quickly switch to panels like Skype, Mytopia, Google, CNN and Windows Live. Although the new X2 will only be upgraded to a 3.2-inch full touch screen, the new Windows Phone now comes with a 8.1 megapixel camera and flash LED.

More HTC Touch2 (T3333) Photos, Specifications: An Affordable Smartphone

Following up on the earlier press announcement, detail specifications and more press photos of the new HTC Touch2 are now available on HTC website. Comes with a 2.8-inch full touch screen with QVGA resolution, the Touch2 was previously leaked as HTC Mega, targetting at entry level users with a cheaper price range. It is also confirmed that the TouchFLO 3D is an updated version for QVGA device, which was also leaked in July as a custom ROM. Check out the full specifications here.

Other than the 3.2 megapixel fixed focus camera, the HTC Touch2 should be fit for most of your needs with the built in WiFi, GPS, microSD card slot and 3.5mm headphone jack. The smartphone will be available next month in 3 colors option.

Planned to be launched on June 5th, HowardForums member 91ZCpe has managed to grap one from Verizon Wireless and shared a series of the LG enV Touch XV11000 live photos. As a successor of the old LG Voyager, the unique enV Touch is a clamshell with two 3-inch WVGA display screen for internal and external display. The clamshell design is meant for using the phone in landscape mode, together with the QWERTY hardware keyboard.

The LG enV Touch XV11000 also comes with a 3.2 megapixel, using a Schneider Kreuznach optics and assisted by auto focusing and LED flash. The built in microSD card slot will support up to 16GB of microSD card, while the 3.5mm headphone jack will support most of your headphones for music listening. If you are going to buy one, the phone’s price will be $409.99 or $149.99 after $70 rebate and 2 years service contract.

Nokia Unveils 6600i Slide

Nokia today presented the Nokia 6600i slide, one of the company smallest 5 megapixel slider to date with dual LED flash, and bright 2.2” display with 16 million colors. With an additional micro SD card the memory is expandable up to 16GB. In-box come a 1GB micro SD card and the Nokia stereo headset WH-203 with FM radio. The Nokia 6600i slide has an estimated retail price of EUR 200 excluding taxes and subsidies and it is expected to start shipping in select markets in the third quarter of 2009.
