The original Samsung Jet launched a little less than a year ago, so it’s about time Samsung released a successor. Of course, from what we can tell, they may just be releasing the same exact device, with a change not to the handset, but to the price tag. We don’t have a problem with that, as a price drop is never a bad thing. What we’re confused about, is why Samsung is offering the device with gangster movies.

The original Samsung Jet was one of the most popular devices around the world for some time, even as companies like HTC announced their Android-powered Hero. Considering the hardware powering the handset, we’re not shocked. In fact, the Samsung Jet is one of the fastest devices on the market, still, with some notable exceptions. As we mentioned, the new “Ultra Edition” Jet isn’t (much) different from the original Jet: It’s got the same 800MHz processor, the same 3.1-inch AMOLED touchscreen; a 5MP camera, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, and 2GB of on board memory. There’s an expandable MicroSD card slot though, which gives you the ability to expand that memory up to 16GB. It’s also rocking Samsung’s loved (but not consumer loved) TouchWiz 2.0. The device also has several web-links to your favorite social media sites, like MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter, which provides easy access to the mobile versions of those sites. No, they’re not apps. Just links.
If you’re on the wireless carrier O2, and this phone sounds like a winner to you, then you’ll be pleasantly surprised to hear that the Jet Ultra will be free on a £25 tariff, but no mention of how long you’ll have to sign over your soul for to own it at this cost. And, yes, it’s coming bundled with a threesome of “classic gangster movies.” We have no idea why that’s happening, or what movies are being included, but it’s happening nonetheless. Are you excited yet?
