Samsung Diva and Clutch Get Introduced

You have to hand it to Samsung: they know how to launch a phone. And why wouldn’t they? Some weeks, it feels like they’ve got a brand new device hitting shelves somewhere around the globe all the time. And while they’re usually all showing off the latest software build of their now standard TouchWiz User Interface, we can at least say that the hardware design (while familiar) holds just enough creativity to catch our eye.

First up, is the Samsung Clutch (which is pictured above). This thing is just about as shiny as it gets, even if it’s not technically considered a high-end device. Meant more for the mid-range, the Clutch W9500 comes with a 3.2-inch touchscreen display, 3G, GPS, 3MP camera on the back and a 1.3MP camera on the front for video calling, and a MicroSD card slot (for expandable memory up to 16GB). Apparently, and we’re not exactly sure what to make of this, the Clutch features a “lady UI.” Apparently, this means it’s rocking TouchWiz 2.0, but has some extra applications bundled in there. For example, it’s got a calorie counter and a party planner. The Clutch is primed to launch in South Korea soon, and should cost about $520. It comes in three colors: Black Gold, Beige Silver, and Romantic Pink. There’s really only one option though, right?

For those of you in the UK who are interested by the Clutch, but think it may be just too flashy, Samsung’s got you covered. Take a gander at the Diva S7070, the clutch minus all that shininess. The Diva is still primarily targeted toward female customers, but at least it doesn’t scream it just by looking at it. Features wise, we’re looking at a slightly downgraded Clutch. A 2.8-inch touchscreen display, TouchWiz User Interface, social networking integration, a 3.2MP camera with autofocus and “beauty shot” feature. It’s also got a 3.5mm headphone jack, though, so that’s good. Plus, there’s that awesome diamond-shaped navigation key. You know you can’t pass that up, so why don’t you head on over to Carphone Warehouse, where you can pick up this little handset on contract with UK providers like O2, T-Mobile, and Orange.
